Re: Thanks for the warning Same as car drivers - none. There's no such thing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23694438
Just info I got off this site http://www.thetaxguide.co.uk/what-does-road-tax-pay-for.html Just got back from a weekend walking in the Dales, lots of cyclists following Le Tour route. Looks like people up there have same problem as the rest of us. http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m118/alf1887/Cyclists_zps81cdc71c.jpg
where do you live, manchester velodrome? i've cycled thousands of miles and can safely say i've never seen 6+ abreast. not once. you must be very unlucky.
Me neither. To be honest, I rarely see cyclists riding two abreast. Well, I see them further up the road riding two abreast, but as I get closer they usually move in to single file. Sometimes they don't, but that's usually when the road is wide and there is no traffic coming in the opposite direction. My experience of cyclists is that they're interested in self preservation and tend to ride accordingly. I'm not a cyclist, I like driving my car. I appreciate that cyclists can slow you down, but not for very long, and so what? They're just other road user going about their business. Be courteous and move on, there's nowt to get angry about. I've spent hours in a single traffic jam numerous times. Every day, wherever I drive, my journey time is increased by minutes by the sheer volume of cars and lorries on the road. That can be frustrating, particularly when you're late or in a rush. The most I've ever been delayed by a cyclist is a few seconds and that doesn't bother me at all.
At 7am yesterday I rode past the Birdwell Wheelers (I think that's what they're called) on Pontefract Road & they were riding 4 abreast. Didn't bother me as the road was quiet & I could get round easy enough
Re: Agree entirely Let me guess SM are you a BMW driver? Although Audi drivers are catching up in the biggest arse.holes on the road competition.
Slow down, wait for an opportunity to pass, then overtake. Adds about 2 seconds to your journey. I've never felt the need to honk the horn at a cyclists nor have I ever come close to hitting one. Patience gets you through most situations on the road I know I'm soft.
Re: In my experience *yawn* we'll keep that post just in case you're involved in an accident with a cyclist.
