before it went to aldham they had it on the fields between station road and littlefield lane at the side of the canal. Its where the bypass now runs.
I think it was actually the last 2 weeks in August, but anyway, the 2 things id like to add is, all different areas had different Holiday times. Just what they are talking about reintroducing now. I used to work in Wigan at one time and they had something called Wigan fortnight, which was at the start of June. And ever one who as ever been to Blackpool has heard of Scott's week... Be it on Hoyland town hall field or the field behind t'cross keys on't common, it was always the feast. But it was pronounced feyst.

I'm also from Wombwell and always knew it as feast. The field it used to be on when I was a kid was even called the 'feast field'. Used to be where the cop shop now is, on Park Street. I think Aldham field also became known as 'feast field' when it moved there. I didn't think it was just a Wombwell thing, but mebbi it was...
Well it was only a week and if I recall exactly it commenced the first Saturday after the 21st of August. It was our form of a wakes week for factories, pits, shops etc.
