I thought that was a nailed on foul incoming. Really surprised. Poya needs to wobble Quina's head and tell him to release the ball earlier. Wasted a handful of different opportunities dilly dallying on the ball and trying to go alone. His work rate off the ball isn't there today either.
Commentator: "I know it's only mid February, but are Coventry playing like they're on the beach already?" Pretty much the reason I almost stopped watching us under Mark Robins. The only time I've ever felt the players weren't putting much effort in, when we were marooned in lower mid-table, in no danger of going up or down.
I think he's been terrible. Looks so out of shape and on the slide, and can't get to some of the balls being played in. One goal this season suggests he wouldn't be the answer to our problems.
Start releasing the ball earlier. Especially on the left. Vita has wasted his run two or three times because the ball hasn't been played in. Couple of times the ball hasn't fallen kindly for us as well around the edge of the box. Was a slow start, a frustrating watch, but totally in the game which is good for half time.
This is one of those games where we make one mistake and that loses us all 3 points. Styles is wrong in that position, supposedly trying to help Morris.
He’s never been the most in shape striker, but in the right system he’s great. Put him in the system we played last year and he plays it well. However, you’ve probably got a point under this current style of play. I almost think it’s a waste of time us playing with a striker.
Entertaining first half in which both teams seem to lack a cutting edge. Can't accuse Poya of being defensive today. Game certainly looks winnable if we can just find some quality up front.
This has all the hallmarks of a 0-0 with just a chance a mistake or bit of brilliance will win it 1-0. History is against us benefiting. I’m expecting 1-0 Coventry but hope I am as wrong as I was last week
A possible pivotal next twenty minutes for the season coming up. Can Barnsley start creating and get something from this before the legs tire and the match peters out?
He's nowhere near athletic enough to play in a front three for Val. He demanded that the front three attacked every ball that came in and were comfortable pulling out wide and waiting for the cavalry to arrive. Waghorn could do that in a traditional #9 role in the right style but not in one that requires a high press and a none stop work ethic. Nailed on to score this half though now I've said all this.
Agree with this. I think he's playing there because we can't trust Iseka to put the graft in and get back and help out Brittain/Williams. Cole up front with Morris dropping deep, as frustrating and useless as Cole can be at times, is a better setup for us. Then put Styles where Palmer is and get him on the ball.
