    In which case why has he taken the job? Hardly putting himself in the shop window. Will part of him be hoping that Burnley start off badly under Company? I'd be looking for an out already.

    Due to the huge turnover with the playing staff (with more to come before September 1st), I'm happy to cut Michael Duff some slack at the beginning of the new campaign. After what happened in 2015/16, Barnsley fans should know from past experiences not to be too quick to write off our team. If we don't hit the ground running, I'm happy to show patience and give Duff time.

    It’s up to him why he joined and only he knows how it was pitched and what was suggested or promised.

    Once we’ve the deficit under control, we should have a bigger budget than a good number of fellow league 1 teams.

    Completely agree with this. What happens on the pitch in the first few months isn’t the most important thing to me.

    We’ve got to get on an even footing, and personally I’d rather do that in one go now than a slow dragged out cull. But it will be what it will be.

    I think he was made aware of the club's financial situation, which players would be realistically moved on, the available budget for incoming transfers.
