What wonderful memories. What fantastic players. When you now see that Toney is an England centre forward ..... !!!! And there was I watching that puzzling who Harry Chapman was. Who was he? Thanks for posting.
Like just about everyone if you had asked me at that time which one of them young loanees would have the better career I would have put good money on Fletcher. One chased the money the other dropped down the league's and learnt his trade. I sat just behind Ivan's family in the run to that final at Wigan sister and mum I think lovely people and said how much he was enjoying been with us. His Dad sat behind us not sure for what reason but he was a giant of a man from that you could see Ivan had not stopped growing physically. Let's hope he's sorted his addiction out and he gets his move to a top 5 side.
Probably my favourite time been a Barnsley fan 2016. I was a bit young to fully appreciate the premier league season. 2016 was a joy, winning regularly, entertaining goals, two wins at Wembley, a Barnsley man owning the club, managing the side & one winning every header at the back. Hammill, Hourihane, Winnall, Scowen, Roberts, Mawson, Davies, Bree, White. Some cracking loanees as well. Happy times.
Harry Chapman is at Bradford City.. he had his first league experience on loan with us, then a couple of spells at Blackburn and Sheff U, doesn't seem to have fulfilled his early promise. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Chapman_(footballer,_born_1997)
Brilliant thanks for posting I wish we had a Barnsley manager with Barnsley blood running through his veins now. Not necessarily PH
Ivan Toney what a lad. He will be going to the Euros and signing for a champions league team this summer.
Unfortunately, my son’s in the same boat as you were for the Premiership season about the 2016 season. It was his first year watching the Reds and didn’t turn 6 until after this game, so he often says he wishes he could remember more about it. For the second leg of the JPT semi-final, we had a houseful. The game was going on and we were attacking, but then the picture froze. We all looked around, wondering what was going on, only to see the boy with the Sky remote in his hand, saying “I need the toilet”! When we got to penalties, I kept telling him that if we win the shootout we’re going to Wembley. And then just before Hammill’s penalty I told him this was it, if this goes in, Wembley! Once the ball had stopped bouncing around and we saw it hit the roof of the net, the room erupted, as you can imagine, but the boy went “YAY!! We’re going to Wembley, we’re going to Wembley…dad, what’s Wembley?”
Great day out that. Can’t believe it’s 8 years. We were playing such good football and getting results, I wasn’t nervous in the slightest for the playoff final. Like a few others above, I’m too young for the premier league promotion so this season (or second half of the season) is probably my most successful time seeing us play. Unlike the playoff final, the Oxford game had a nice, friendly atmosphere. Both sets of fans mixing before the game was nice to see.
Funniest thing is when he signed for Brentford for 4 million. "If toneys worth that what's woodrow worth?" That aged well.

Hahaha funniest thread I've seen on here. Some people doing that honer simpson emoji where he goes backwards into a Bush after reading that.
