    He only scored that because he'd just had a pint of Mansfield Bitter.

    Barnard always for me, but yes, for occasion, meaning and sheer crowd noise; Aylott v Man City is up there.

    Similarly for last minute joy, Hourihane v Forest away.

    I always enjoyed Parkers overhead kick too, early 80's, opening day?

    Depends on best goal technically or just the best with the occasion etc

    Big trev v Man City as some have identified. BUT that was almost a mirror image of Odejayi v Chelsea. Both excellent crosses and both excellent headers against world class keepers and you perhaps have to factor in the occasion. I'm going to give oddjob's the vote because it took us to the new wembley for the first time...so, in this order top first..
    Barnard (wins on skill and audacity alone)
    Hamill
    Howard
    Hendrie (either back heel at Bramhall Lane (the day I started to actually believe) or the one he curled with the outside of his foot - same season, can't remember who against or away at Man Utd in FA Cup (the best technical performance I've ever seen by a Barnsley team)
    Odejayi

    For me:-
    1. Darren Barnard;
    2. Paddy McCourt;
    3. Trevor Aylott.

    Can't argue with any of those - especially Barnard.

    Honourable mentions to Ward, Redders and Barnard for all three goals against Spurs in the cup. Hard to think of one game with three better goals.

    And to Stumpy for his sublime chip against Chesterfield.

    Picking a top three Neil Redfearn goals would be a challenge

    Oh dear, Kev - we’ve come to expect such precision from you. Which Trevor Aylott goal please? Brighton or Man City?

    Palace away in PL and Newcastle away in League Cup perhaps his two best... I also loved his close volley against Bolton at home in our promotion year. We had two titanic games against Bolton that season.

    Glavin's goal at Bellend Rd 1983 ish. Sadly no footage exist as far as I know.

    His winner at the Sty (same season i think) was very satisfying because he came on as sub and the Wendy fans gave him stick for being a bit portly when he was warming up.

    Remember this like it was yesterday. Surely the greatest hat trick ever scored?

    I was right behind it and knew it was going in what seemed an age before the net bulged. Almost orgasmic....

    There's too many to choose from, but let me suggest another cracker from Daz Barnard.
    We'd been outplaying Tottenham in the Fa cup 4th round replay, but they pulled one back late on and it made for a nervy finish.
    Until Barnard picked out the top corner from about 200 yards out lol.
    3-1, game over... bring on ManUre in the next round. :)

    Ask me again next week and I'll probably give different answers.

    Neil Thompson's howitzer against Stoke is still the purest strike of a ball I've seen. Right in line of sight of it from my seat at the time.

    Can't say anymore about Barnard's v Huddersfield.

    And there is one goal I'd love to see again, I don't think I've ever seen TV footage of it. Steve Cooper, renowned for headed goals to be fair, once scored a chip, on the run, from about 35-40 yards out at home to Sunderland in 1989, around Easter time. Tony Norman was in goal, the ball just clipped the crossbar on its way in.

    Also remember, more recently, a cracker from Josh Brownhill away at Walsall where there was a bit of a lag in the old brain before I realised it was in the net.

    Paddy McCourt beating 15 Middlesborough defenders while holding a pint of Guinness in his left hand and he didn't spill a drop.
