I support a club. They are a business.

You seem to be struggling with that concept.

We sold 3 as davies contract had run up but I get your point. I'm happy with the incomings think we have signed some decent players who hopefully can step up from league one. It's a big set back to lose kieffer anyone who says it isn't is kidding themselves but not as big of a loss as losing pinnock and lindsay.

So do you support the club or the business. You personally?

We’ve lost 6 players. I was disappointed to lose pinnock

    The club.

The business decisions the owners make every day are done to develop and improve the club. They are better placed than yourself or I to make these decisions.

If that means selling Moore for 4 million then I support that because it is their view that doing so will contributes towards the long term improvement of the club.

They’ll get some decisions right (Woodrow for Bradshaw) they’ll get some wrong (Morais). We don’t know if selling Moore will end up being a good decision - but I’m not going to slate them for doing so.

You can moan all you want about the state of football or our club being a crap business. However at the end of the day when you look around at other clubs - Bolton, Bury, Wednesday, Birmingham (and I’m sure many more) - our club is in pretty safe hands.

Am I the only one who thinks it's risky business from a Wigan point of view? o_O

Our club isn't in safe hands, we are owned by a consortium of business people and are simply part of their portfolio. They are just passing through and could leave at any minute. We are easily pleased at the minute because of the promotion but could quite easily become the next Blackpool or Bolton.

At 6pm after the match and everyone has left Oakwell the transfer of Kieffer Moore will be announced unless the medical results say otherwise.
He wouldn't have made the starting11 today.
He wasn't the same player when he came back from his bang on the head.
No preseason so fitness is questionable. I believe he was due to be transferred earlier in the window and something was flagged up which cancelled the move. The result meant he was to rest and this has been used to keep an irritable player away from the squad to avoid upsetting the new players.
I don't think he would be upto the task so let's get someone new in.
Players come and go it the nature of the best.
Time to draw a line in the sand and move on.
If you're not happy you can always stop going and support the reds.
Until there's 40000 or whatever number you want to use turning up week in week out Barnsley will always sell.
We do to other teams taking their star players what teams do to us.
The new season is about to start and I for one can't wait

I meant in comparison to them clubs. Any club could become the next Bolton or Blackpool. Id say we’re probably less likely to become them than most clubs. I agree however that the future is never certain.

I don't have an issue with the strategy of selling players in the last year of their contracts, those that don't want to be at our club or for their true value. But I have a problem with the policy that cost us relegation last time and with our recruitment. I know we cannot compete for championship players in terms of wagers etc but I see no point in having an academy then taking a punt on developing prospects from other clubs and using our scarce funds for the privilege....to me we needed to spend the money on a couple of old heads. A Kevin Long who would be a leader at the back and perhaps an experienced striker....a Mcgoldrick type player.
Also not a good start for our new CEO to state no one else would be leaving....he should have said unless we get an offer we cannot refuse.

Not every team strips it’s squad back to the bare bones every couple of seasons, it’s a Barnsley FC specific thing. I’d you've not grasped that, condescending on football forums probably isn’t the hobby for you.

According to the club Woodrow wasn't a replacement for Bradshaw. We were signing him anyway, whether Bradshaw left or not. The club wanted three strikers, Chaplin being the third. We didn't get him, and I don't blame the club for that, Portsmouth wouldn't sell him to us. But it keeps being repeated that we invested the Bradshaw money in the signing of Woodrow. That's not what the club said happened. If you want to look where we invested the Bradshaw money, the next striker through the door was George Miller.

The best way of spending the £4 million would be to buy Stendel a million pound house in High Hoyland and spend the rest on Friday night incalls from Claudia Schiffer for him.
