That would depend on if we sell the entire west stand and if we split the north stand like it was built for. Whatever the situation I would be shocked if someone could still buy a season pass by June.
thats untrue. We hadn’t sold out of season tickets and there was about 200 tickets available every match.
My opinion is that the West Stand has to go, its an eyesore. The owners/BMBC and the Crynes need to sort out their differences and build a new stand, fill in the corners and get a new scoreboard/new advertising boards ..... all these will help their long-stated mission to increase commercial revenue (at an initial cost). This does not impact the FFP limitations and will give the whole club a lift, showing us that they indeed want to take us to the next level.
That stand is not only about the number of seats, its also the dated press facilities, lack of space behind it for supporters, terrible catering areas, outside toilets, the look of it for potential new players, the effect of the acoustics on the rest of the ground etc.. Id rather them pull it down now and play with a fence up.
it was bad at back of stand with high balls going out of view and then reappearing, with big Vals rugby union football you would miss half of match
I don't find new stadiums to be vastly different to the older ones. The only reason to go down that path for me would be safety/ capacity.
When l last sat in there l nearly broke my legs expecting the seats to automatically flick up as l stood up when l went for a piss. The seat was that heavy l nearly asked a Steward to help.
I like rugby union/league tactics, you still need skill to get the points, but territory always wins in those games ,big Val is a genius
did you see the home game against Stoke filmed from side of pitch, with no crowd you hear the thuds and collisions, some of the skill shown by our lads to get hold of the ball and work their way out of tight corner was amazing
I expect we actually are, especially for big games. Before my season ticket I would look at the map and if I couldn’t get two seats together in the East Stand I wouldn’t go, even though there were loads available in the West Stand. No way would I pay the same money to sit in those seats and have the famous WSB as the facilities.
Not for me. Having the stadium and training facilities all on one site, within easy walking distance of the town centre, makes Oakwell perfect, as far as I'm concerned. By all means, rebuild the West Stand and relay the pitch, but move? Nah.
It always intrigues me as to why we frequently do new player publicity photos with them sitting on the rickety old wooden seats in the West Stand. It's not as if there's aren't sufficient red plastic ones around the place for them to find.
