Over 18s have only been eligible for 3 weeks. When my age group (I’m 33) became eligible I booked it at 7am when I got the text and the first slot was almost 2 weeks away. Over 50s have been eligible for 3 and a half months.

Do you think the lower age groups will catch up in terms of vaccine positivity once they've all had ample time?

58% in the first 3 weeks is very encouraging. For an age group where I’d imagine the majority doesn’t have their own transport and can procrastinate a fair bit, that’s a surprisingly high number in such a short time period, even allowing for drop in centres (which other age groups can access too). As more of their mates get it, more of them are likely to come forward too. I can imagine unis setting up vaccination centres during Fresher’s Week too. I suspect take up of the 18-24 age group to be 70% upwards. Don’t forget, many live at home and will be wanting to doubly protect their parents. The over 55s will remain the highest as they are more at risk and people were more afraid of Covid at the time when they became eligible.

I would personally doubt that as it could lead to confusion and confrontation which most businesses would like to avoid.

I can see it for train companies and maybe a supermarket could say the same.

They’ve not been removed from being a legal requirement yet. I wouldn’t put any money on it until it happens.

I just ment if they did i can't see many businesses pushing for them off their own back.
To be honest the exemption rule is so vague I can't see how anyone could be fined for not wearing one if they just claimed they were exempt.

Unfortunately its difficult to see what the incentive would be for young people to take up the vaccine' they're being told that even with 2 jabs they can catch it' pass it on to others and would have to self isolate even with a negative test' add that to the fact that they are unlikely to be seriously ill even if they don't get vaccinated they have to be thinking why bother?..

But the figures show that the young age groups are actually taking up the vaccine as quickly, if not quicker than the older age groups have. The only reason there are less younger vaccinated is that there's been much less time that they've been allowed to

More to the point if the vaccine doesn't stop the spreading of the virus then we really have done all we can now

I had my second jab this morning in Clayton West. I would say the Pfizer queue I was in was longer than AZ. Plenty there both appointment or no appointment. I don't think we need to worry about young taking it up. The surprise to me was quite a few older end were there for a jab who were probably aged 60+.

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Wearing of Face Coverings in a Relevant Place) (England) Regulations 2020 expire on 24th July 2021. The Health Secretary could of course make equivalent 2021 regulations under the authority vested in him by the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 if he deems it appropriate.

The ozzies were surveyed and 38% thought that if they catch the rona they will die from it. Fekin bonkers considering it doesnt bother 99% of folk. Their government have done a right job on them.

This should help lower our infections.

I don't know if that's true or not but it perfectly outlines the problem with surveys. If 38% of those surveyed think, "Knowing my luck I'll probably be the one that dies" you get that result. Unlucky Alf syndrome. "Bugger." But it doesn't imply that the nation collectively thinks 38% of people will die upon catching it.

The other problem with surveys is you often find a vast difference between what people say and what they actually do.
