Anyone seen this on Twitter??? Basically (anti lockdowner’s) are urging all business that are shut to open...... Somehow can’t see it but how would they stop them if everyone did open up?
fine them massively and arrest them. That Liverpudlian gym owner was fined 10k. If you were a landlord your licence would be revoked.
I’m sure I’ve read today that in Poland some 20,000 businesses have defied the government and opened up
As a nation; we tend to be more reserved and well-behaved. But the longer this carries on, the more angry and frustrated people become. It's only a matter of time before there is a mass revolt against the restrictions.
I can't condone it, but I can understand it. It must be so frustrating to see your custom being sucked out from under you by online outlets and supermarkets. Even M&S are keeping the whole store open this time around - for the first lockdown they had everything but food roped off and covered up.
If you're a big enough company you can get round the rules because they were designed with those businesses in mind. If you're small you can't and that's the problem. The government have passed legislation aimed at supporting it's few rich mates. It wasn't accidental either
People are struggling to recognise the pandemic they see with their eyes as opposed to the pandemic they are told about on the news. You can't blame people for being angry when their livelihoods are being systematically detroyed and their lives ruined, yet large chain stores are still allowed to operate relatively normally. Like I say, a time will come when people en mass will just say "enough is enough".
Another one bites the dust... Debenhams brand name and website have been bought by Boohoo for £55m, but they're not taking any of the remaining stores. 12,000 jobs at risk. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55793411
It is sad for well known brands and obviously jobs to go, but lets be honest Debenhams has been on its arse for a number of years. Covid will shut healthy businesses for good I am sure of it, but it will also clear a lot of dead in the water ones like the recession did for the likes of Woolworths. I appreciate it doesn't make it any easier to take for employees.
No idea. Still assets to sell, perhaps? Not sure who owns the stores, although it'll be difficult to sell or rent them out anyway in the current climate.
I’m as eager as anyone to return to normality but I think we have to be patient for at least another 6 weeks or so. Hopefully by then things have turned greatly and then surely we have to start seeing restrictions lifted.
They've only bought the on-line business so I expect the administrators will be selling off the rest piecemeal.
Boohoo is owned by and part of Mike Ashley's Fraser group. We might hear this week, who Deloitte have chosed as the preferred buyer. Sad times for people who work in the retail sector.
