Everywhere has it's shitty areas but i defy anyone to come over this side of the motorway (Silkstone, Dodworth, Cawthorne etc) and tell me it is a shithole when it clearly isn't.
I did get Elsecar in in a reply so don't worry I haven't missed it. I must confess though when I tried one I wasn't overly impressed with a Percy turner's pork pie. I know, I know, I'm a monster.
I guess the Sheff Utd fans were right after all: https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/22536/town-named-countrys-dog-fouling-capital
Am I right in reading that because London has failed to prosecute anyone for the offence it makes it officially the cleanest place? Based on that logic Whitechapel was the safest place for prostitutes to live and work in 1888
And what’s wrong with Darton or Mapp. I moved here on the border of the two. Just over a year ago. Settled in nicely, and nice little pub tour of both.
Both cracking little villages, a was more meaning that the previous poster had put Crookes in with Dore etc which it isn’t really in the same bracket
No idea, everything was removed before we were handed the site. We did have the former Midland Bank(now Wetherspoons) as our site offices.
That area between Birdwell, Tankersley, Hoyland Common and Blacker Hill. I struggle to remember what was there before, it's all roundabouts, link roads, monolithic warehouses or compacted ground. Our very own little piece of hell on earth. One giant shed to bind us all.
Here’s the before and after to aid your memory. Think of all of those jobs though, in that massive automated warehouse. But don’t think of all the pollution the hundreds of lorry’s a day will make…. It’s not as if it’s right next to a primary school and old folks home either…
I've lived all over the UK ( I know it's subjective) but their are many places which I would call a 5hithole before Barnsley, if the country had a arse crack then where I live now would be it.( IMO) The best placed I have lived is Colchester
