No, losing your life unexpectedly is a tragedy. Not being able to watch televised football is just an inconvenience.
I may have to look into that but if it’s not worth paying extra for it I won’t bother. I might be here for a long stretch this time but I could go home and not be allowed back here for many months so I have to consider the financial hit. My broadband/TV service already costs me 25€ every month whether the house is occupied or not. How much would VPN add to that?
With Three you get to use your data, minutes and texts in most countries free of charge. You can switch between networks at will between the ones they have agreements with so you can always get the best signal!
ha ha, getting a hard time from some! Most unfair. I envy you the warmth and sunshine. Not having to go through the agony that is I follow is just an added bonus!
Amazon always recognises when I have the VPN on so you might not have any joy there*. Netflix don't seem to care. No idea about Sky so safer to unsubscribe immediately! *Edit: Having said that, Amazon aren't UK based so you'll be able to subscribe to El Amazone from Spain if you're going to be there for some time.
I've already been here for some time (since 30th October) and I have a maximum three months from today. The 90/180 day clock resets from 1 Jan so I have to leave the country before 90 days has elapsed, although I'm not sure I want to stay here that long anyway. This rule has always been there, but largely ignored by the Spanish authorities. Now, with passport scanning machines you can't fly "under the radar" as so many have done for decades. Large fines or bans on re-entering the country are the punishments being talked about. It's just stupid - all of it. We are not their only source of income, obviously. Spain will survive if every British second home owner packed up and went back home for good. They would survive if no more British tourists visited the Costas for their annual summer holidays. But the impact on their economy would be significant so I am sure they will try their best to accommodate us. It's not just Spain's rules though. It's the EU - that big powerful club that we don't belong to any more. So thanks for your suggestion but I see no point in switching my membership from Amazon.UK to Amazon.ES as I have no intention of applying for permanent Residencia here. I never did want that, even though I am retired. My other half is still working though so, especially in these trying times, gets little or no benefit from our Place in the Sun. Ironically it was HER idea all along.
"Getting a hard time from some" goes with the territory on here doesn't it? Whatever point you raise will, more often than not, generate some sensible, helpful replies and some of the other kind. I'm not complaining, really I'm not - I just wondered if any others exiled (either permanent or temporary, like me) are affected in the same way. The warmth and the sunshine is ok for a time, but after two months of daily blue skies I'm missing home. This isn't real life - it's artificial. Having said that though I am glad that I am out of all the crap that is going on in the UK at the moment. I'd like to think that things will be looking better when I get back to North Yorkshire. I'm not holding my breath though .
Rather than switching your account you could just set up a second new one and pay for Prime monthly rather than annually. It’s a little more expensive but then you could just pay for it each month on alternate accounts depending on which country you are in and at least you aren’t paying for months that you can’t use.
That’s a good suggestion and I will look into it but I’ll probably end up just leaving it. Prime Video isn’t that good to be honest. I’ve enjoyed a few good things on it but I can manage without.
