Anyone who went happy with Lyle Taylor today? Because i can honestly say, i Hate all that. I would hate it if our players did it. He deserved at least a yellow. Absolutely hate the way football fans have adopted this as acceptable. What are we teaching young kids?
There’s two different things going on here. First, I couldn’t believe the Ref let him provoke the Crowd like he did. Could have been a riot. Shithousery of the highest order. I could have cheerfully smacked him. Second, what a player. Everything a Centre Forward should be. We never laid a glove on him.
Not anything a CF should be in my opinion. Wouldn’t swap Chaplin or Woodrow for him. Maybe he should let his “talent” do the talking instead of waving to his imaginary friends.
He was getting plenty of stick and gave it back with an arms out gesture. Didn’t mind that myself. The goalkeeper time wasting though and the players pretending to be injured - that was terribly managed by the referee. Just like West Brom though, I don’t solely blame the Charlton players. You need a referee to nip it in the bud straight away but the man in the middle today was absolutely awful. Thought he had a shocking game.
I don’t disagree with that but Taylor is a CF in a way that Woodrow and Chaplin will never be. We are, individually and collectively, soft. It’s one of the reasons we can’t compete. Too little heart, steel and yes....shithousery.
I personally was shocked that a nice chap like Lee Bowyer would create a team of fvcking degenerates who rile the opposition and do a lot of diving.
On the playing fields of Eton such behaviour would be frowned upon. Sadly for us, this is the Championship.
Charlton have been the best "dark arts" team for a few seasons....i really dislike playing them as a team. I guess its down to experience and playing the ref and the ref bought everything. They do have have a very good example in their head coach. I noticed it last year and again this....our young inexperienced players just dont know how to win fouls, in the second half they seemed out of ideas and puff but could draw on their (ahem) experiences to see the game out. Cullen and williams threw themselves all over the place (cullen should have been booked for simulation....trying for a pen). However this wasnt the reason we lost .....oh and Lyle Taylor......wish we had him.
Oooh i did notice they were trying to get our new cb sent off too......and he wasnt helping himself..
If a player is booked for celebrating excessively when scoring a goal, then I don't see why they are not booked for goading the crowd in the way that Taylor did. Also ...... however good his football might have been, I don't want a player playing for me who pays more attention to the crowd than the corner his team were putting in --- because he totally ignored that corner, wasn't even interested in the ball.
