With Cauley now gone, that just leaves Morris,Styles,Anderson, Helik and Collins, to go. Fiscal policy and SCMP. Please don't shoot the messenger.
I'm hoping we might keep Morris. His injury record may mean we don't get a suitable offer. We might sell him in January for a lot more as well if he's bagged 10 or more goals & stayed fit. Helik, Styles & Collins surely must have suitors at clubs that have a bit of wedge in the Championship. We have to be realistic though that we may lose them all if the right offers come in.
Seems odd that we get relegated and lose all our best players and the likes of Derby and Weds in serious financial bother keep theirs.
If the EFL have shown us anything it’s that the likes of Wednesday and Derby are a law unto themselves as regards finances, but that leeway is not extended to “smaller clubs”.
Derby are still under a transfer embargo. Lose any more and they'll be playing mostly the under 21/18s. And only those on a contract. As no new ones can be offered. Most 1st teamers are out of contract. ( unable to renew) I think someone said only 5 go beyond this year. June 30th. I reckon they are waiting for the final outcome of administration. Quite a few of those out of contract at the end of the month won't be hanging around to wait and take a chance I'd have thought. Wendy are taking risks, given the amount of debt accrued. They also haven't entered administration. So at present only playing a risky game on the 1st/2nd division turnover rules.
I hope we can keep all of them and get shut of palmer, Vic, Thomas, Oulare, all the dead wood and bring a couple of major signings in.
The reality of the finances dictates that the wage bill needs to come down by around £6m pa and around £7m is needed to meet the Efl debt and the operating loss of the 2022/23 season. That’s the harsh reality of the situation. Hopefully clubs really fancy Helik and Styles and between them they can recover the majority of the cash needed.
I'd imagine our entire wage bill is around £6m, if that. Well, last year's. I'd imagine it's halved now.
Wednesday let 17 players go last season and weren't permitted to pay a transfer fee for anyone iirc. And they weren't all fringe players either, there was Adam Reach, Jordan Rhodes and Kieran Westwood for starters.
You say " don"t shoot the messenger " implying that you are well in the know otherwise you would not say that , so what other hot information is the messenger hiding ? , come clean, spill all !
Halme, Schmidt, Vic, Palmer and Miller all off the wage bill as well. If, and it’s a significant if, we can get decent fees for Styles and Helik, I don’t see why we should have to sell Andersen, Morris and Brittain as well. Especially if we can find a buyer for Iseka. Question is, who wants to stay?
Honestly Red CB,I don't, it's just previous experience of posting on here, things that may include bad news or views that some people vehemently disagree with, leads to abuse sometimes. I think this summer, the financial crisis at the club has been explained to us all and the ways to rectify it,without the ownership investing many millions of their own funds. I believe the players who are financial assets, that could possibly be sold, have served the club well and hopefully will continue to have good careers.
Problem there is vic and palmer will be on peanuts. Oulare needs shut of but who would sign him similar with thomas.
I had 3 Defo woody helik styles 3 possibles Anderson Morris Britain would be really dissapointed if all 3 of them went. I would hope if the 3 defo go it would balance the books and we can move forward with player's who want to be at our club.
I'm struggling to get my head round this. looking at salarysport.com, it's telling me our entire squad salary from last season was c£7m. cutting £6m from that means we would have a squad salary around £1m. that's nearly half cheltenham's squad salary from last season. I know you know your stuff, so I'll be missing summat. what am I missing?
The accounts on Companies House show a wage bill of £14.4m for the year 2020/21. Admittedly that includes the fee for Dike on loan and both Connor Chaplin and Alex Mowatt have left post that. As a counter the club added Iseka and Oulare. I very much doubt that Molenbeek are meeting the totality of Obbi's salary. If you want to know what each club's payroll is all championship sides have the season to 2021 accounts available with the exception of WBA. These numbers are recorded in audited accounts as opposed to estimates and will include total remuneration. On the positive side the lack of win bonuses last year will certainly have reduced costs!
