Re: The club would lose a lot of money from that

Choose what you come up with the club will fark it up, so theirs no point racking your brains, for the last 3 years or so i've been saying on here and other site as well as to the people in the club shop its about time we had snoods and retro shirts, as they would be good sellers, and now we have both in the shop and they look quite good too credit where credits due.
only thing is they started selling one in April and the other in September. now you maybe think what's wrong with that and there is nothing wrong with it, apart from the fact that when everyone is getting there warm winter stuff out of the loft ready for a new ice age, we bring out a T-Shirt that if anyone forks out £25 for is going to be under a jumper for 5 month, then just as people are buying new shorts and flip flops just incase the sun comes out the club decide to start selling a farking scarf.
i can't wait until may to see the new nike woolly hats, so as i say it don't matter what you tell um they'll only fark it up so don't bother wasting your time

Bit negative mate! Here's an opportunity for us to have a say in something at the club. Get stuck in! :)

For one season go back to being called Barnsley St Peters,
wear the colours that we first used in 1887
then design a badge using all the past badges the well the rose toby tyke the tran chrest and the new shield thing
    something like this
    [IMG]
on a gold well in the shield

From what I have read so far, THESE are ALL cracking ideas:
    - - - -
Jay's idea to rename a stand after the founder of our proud club the Reverend Tiverton Preedy. Although whether he was teetotal or not, the club originally played its first games - friendlies - in the grounds of 'The Dove Inn' and used the pub to get changed before and after matches. But thats an obviously great idea. And Id go with the West as the stand to rename.
    - - - -
Conan's idea of tarting up the West Stand. Lick of paint, new roof, get it looking like/matching the other 3. You dont have to rebuild it for now. Just a baige/cream and red paint job and more modern roof. Yes it costs, but its an anniversary. A chance to put our club in the limelight and get the focus on this side of the county for once.
    - - - -
There could then be an opening ceremony to open the newly renamed and refurbished stand, in a pre-season friendly with a fellow 125 club such as Blackpool or Celtic (MrsHallsToffeerolls idea)
    - - - -
Kev's idea of commemorative replica shirts. The home being our 1st ever league season shirt - which was our last change, and 1st year (1897?) in the red and white. And the away being the 1st shirt we wore - navy and maroon stripes. Also incorporate Shaun's idea for a brand new 125 celebratory badge (thats a certainty, even our Rod cant get that wrong)
    - - - -
Kestyke's idea of a £125 ST, tied in with RoystonTyke's idea of only if the club can get a set amount of fans to sign up to it by a certain date. Just a one-off, and risky idea, but could be a great gamble. IT WONT happen like..
    - - - -
Doubletake's idea for renaming the East stand after an ex great - Redders perhaps? Or have a vote to decide. We have the blandest stadium for such things, considering its been our home since the late 1890's.
    - - - -
Which brings me to Gordon Owen's idea of a statue of Preedy. Maybe get the fans and owner/board etc to all club together to pay for it. We could get Ibbeson who did the Dickie one to do it. Personally Id like 2. Preedy in front of the Ponty on a plinth. And 1 of Tommy Taylor at the entrance to the Academy as a nod to the young talent from Barnsley.
    - - - -
And my own idea would be related to our 1st ever matches.
Our first ever game was against Manor House of Worsbrough Bridge which we won 4-0 wearing the navy and maroon kit. Now Im guessing theres no such team now, so maybe a friendly with Worsbrough Bridge?
But maybe better and more likely would be a friendly with Lincoln City at Sincil Bank. To commemorate our 1st ever match in the Football League in 1897 (which we lost 1-0 btw)
Great ideas there. But cost money, so expect none to happen. Same as our FA Cup centenary NOW!

You aren't taking into account how many of those 7,500 season tickets are free kids ones, l'd be very surprised if the income from ST's this season topped £2 million, l'd say if we sold anything over 13k at the special price we would be close to the receipts for ST's this year.

I think the idea of renaming the club to Barnsley St Peters would be brilliant and would certainly get us some publicity - I wonder if the league would allow it? If we could tie that in with kit design using the colours from that first season that would be excellent! I like the idea of a 125 crest/badge

The away kit ought to be blue and brown like our first home kit.
And have the Gold Well with 125 Years below.

Anything come of this Gally? even though it made me sick some of the Arsenal idea's were ok.

Make a game the official 125th Anniversay game next season, charge £12.50 to get in to ensure a full gate or a decent sized crowd, maybe something like this:

    http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/photos-11698/pictures-arsenal-mark-125th-anniversary/1

    - A parade of old Oakwell legends

    - Bring the big flag out from the play off final (seen at a few games at Oakwell a few season's ago)

    - Renaming of the stands with a presentation

    - Club play in a one off shirt like Man U did for the Munich game

    - Unveiling of a Preedy statue, like this Celtic one

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BrotherWalfridCelticPark.jpg

and then after the game a big p*ss up in the East Stand where The Don puts on a free bar to spend some of the Championship revenue and Butterfield transfer money that he's lost down the back of a sofa.

Yes we are working on this. Some good plans and suggestions are being taken forward in my opinion but cant say too much just at the moment.

Still open for ideas though. Anyone have any particular thoughts around 125 merchandise you would buy?

What about giving free red and white striped scarves out for the 125th Anniversary match, its not too expensive to do when they are bought in bulk, many clubs have done it over the years, including lower league teams for anniversaries or when they are playing their last games at a stadium.
    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nort...d-to-bring-back-scarf-support-72703-29299943/

Not many pictures/prints are in the club shop, maybe a limited edition 125 one could be done, legends over the years, the changing face of Oakwell. The main 125th Merchandise would be a one off limited edition shirt if its worn for one match only. But you could put 125 on anything and its different and people will buy it.

Re: Name one of the stands the Reverend Tiverton Preedy Stand

We aren't short of goalscorers now if you haven't noticed.

I think the kit idea is a blinder. With a special crest/badge on. The naming stands is a good idea, but there are so many worthy names to use.
