November 1951, but I don't remember much of the game. I was 6 months old. I can only remember from around 1958-60 ish, hence my 50+ years and not 60 years. You could say this Club was in my blood. With an emphasis on Was.
I would think that you can't just "show your card" because who monitors that process ? It would be wide open to abuse. Tickets purchased in advance under this initiative are thus recorded and BFC can monitor properly the success or otherwise of their initiative. The only area I'd improve is removal of the 60 minute thing, that doesn't seem to have any real reasoning behind it, but as I said in an earlier reply if you're attending every game anyway, as 'Manlito' seemed to suggest he was then get a ST. BFC quite simply cannot legislate for every individual supporter's needs and wants.
The difference is that when the individual turns up with his or her 1912 card at the box office, that ticket they purchase is recorded against their details - at the turnstyle if they are just being waved through and the discounted amount taken then there is no means of recording that purchase - the queues building up if the turnstile operator had to physically log each user's details would cause bother. This isn't an assault on turnstile operators by the way, just trying to show that the club needs to monitor the use of any card that gives a discount in this fashion.
Whilst you are right they cant legislate for each individual supporter, they could try to see some of the pitfalls that may occur before what seems to be rushing headlong into an idea.
Paying £25 on the gate is affordable but having a lump sum avalable to pay for an ST isn't an option that everyone has. You don't seem to understand the economics of a poor area in a recession. You seem to know the reasoning behind it. Are you a Club employee by any chance? You seem to think money grows on trees.
I don't think they have in this case. As I said, I struggle to understand the 60 minute thing but taken in context it's churlish in the extreme to complain about this initiative in my opinion.
Only guessing but most now? Many are charging more arent they? 37 quid at leeds. You can pay over 50 quid for a ticket at Ipswich if my memory serves me correct.
Just remember that the cat A ticket price went up 20% in the first place. That was the start of all this. I haven't had a pay rise in 3 years have you?
As some one who can't throw money away on a flash car I find it more managable to find £25 for a game than £400 on an ST which I did have from 1993 to about 2008. The Club are taking the piss out off long standing supporters like me.
