Adeboyejo got 3 last season. Leya Iseka got 3. Cole got 2.

All had spells not in or around the team and had niggling injuries. I just don't think we can use last season as a barometer of future form though, it was such a mess in every way you want to judge it. I'd happily have Victor in our squad, especially with 5 subs now. He's supplied some quality finishes in his 9 goals for us but he's never really broken into the team and had a series of starts.

But I did suspect he'll be moving on.

Great news if true. I wish trier but extremely limited Vic well, of course, but we should be able to do better - I think several of the top 20 goal-scorers in league 1 were on wages in the same ball park as Vic's last year, for example. Palmer has a little more ability but lacks inherent fitness and heart.

Be great if we could get rid of Iseka (reportedly on nearly as much as Woodrow) and Cole too so that as well as cost reductions Duff has two or three slots to bring his own strikers in to work with Morris (hopefully). Sobering to think that 20 goal/13 assist L1 Player of the Year Scott Twine was reportedly on about 60% of what Iseka got last season.

If Morris gets injured or needs to be subbed we look very lightweight up front , Vic I think would be more effective in L1 and provides some beef up front that’s needed in this division

Tbf I think they're probably two of the lower earners in the squad. Probably not going to save too much money replacing them. But I do think we could get better quality for the same money. If we choose to replace them, that is.

It's will be goals mate that we need like in every league. Something Victor does not provide

All 3 are pretty garbage and we ideally need rid of all of them but Vic is the easiest to get rid of given his contract is up. If we can find a team North of the border etc. to take Cole on loan then that would be ideal and then sell Iseka back to France etc. then get a couple in to replace them. Currently we have too many strikers that are all rubbish. Just focus on having a smaller number of semi decent ones.

If we could clear out just about every one of our 326 forwards, I wouldn't mind one bit. Morris and Woodrow aside, but I'm sure they'll both get offers and they'd be bonkers not to carry on playing in the championship where they've shown they are more than good enough.

We might have to carry a few players though. We're not going to make back all of a players wages by loaning them out. And if we loan them out, we need another player to actually be in and around the squad, so I wouldn't be too surprised if Cole is one of our options up front. Leya Iseka, he can't have enjoyed his time so far and you'd think he'd be tempted to return to the continent, but again it comes down to money and who is willing to match his wages.

Still a long way of the window to go, but hopefully we can make most of the sales as soon as we can so Duff has more time to shape his squad and we get the full benefit of any wage savings.

Duff said his first few days with the players he would sit back and watch players body language. Well if they've not returned back I'd say that's fairly hard to do so I reckon it'd be a goodbye to both.

Personally think he improved slightly in putting himself about , yes he’s not a goal scorer but we need someone to be able to rough those defences up and let others take advantage

Best of luck to both of them.

I always thought Palmer was too inconsistent. He had a very good spell under Struber when we returned after lockdown, and was a key part of us staying up that season. I thought he was incredibly inconsistent under Val, and maybe the style of play didn't suit him as well as it did Morris. I actually preferred Herbie Kane, so for me we've a ready made replacement already for Palmer. Last season he was abysmal, and in the last 15 or so games, I think it was evident he'd downed tools.

Adeboyejo, I'm a little more torn over. If we're going to become an established championship side, he's certainly a player we need to improve on. I actually rate him as a squad player. I think he's actually improved a lot over the last 4 years, particularly his first touch. Under Val, he was an integral part of us benefitting from 5 subs. He's not going to score 20 goals a season, but he's not that sort of player. I'd much rather we kept him than say Cole. But if we're going to progress, we can probably do better than both.

Didn't Isseka score three in three last season?

Wilder is at Boro who are about to sell Spence for over 20 million. They are being linked to the likes of Adam Armstrong and Dwight Gayle. Seems they are aiming a tad higher than Morris thankfully.

I`d be amazed if our new coach would settle for a first-line of back-up strikers of the ilk of Cole and Iseka. Lets see what he has in store for us - I`m happy to give him time to settle.

I've seen Styles quoted recently as he's effectively already agreed with all parties that he's going, to be fair to him I think he has been very clear in setting expectations as you say.

I don't get all this clamour for keeping fringe players.
If not good enough to be able to start. Not good enough for the bench either.
I'm hoping Duff has a clear picture of what he wants and has a bigger say than previous managers have.

Maybe they pulled up in their respective motors and Duff took one look at their body language getting out the car and said, nah sorry lads, not for me.

I hope he doesn't have to, but he might not have any choice. They both have 2 years on a contract, so might not be many takers for them, and if we can't sell either of them, it'll be difficult to bring anyone in that's any better.
