Well done old boy. 80 units a week is a lot! I find the thought of having a beer more exciting than actually having one. I'll go weeks, maybe even months without having a drink and then it's usually only a beer at a pub or restaurant for Sunday dinner. Chocolate though.....
I've found that drinking doesn't have the same effect on me as it had before. I'm embarrassed by the number of cans I drink sometimes and find myself loading the wheelie bin last thing at night or first thing in the morning too. I never saw it as a problem because I'm not alcohol dependant but I really ought to try and get to the bottom of why I want to get that way in the first place. I've got theories but it would be extremely harsh to pin it all on one thing.
Congratulations, mate. It’s a real achievement, I’m pleased for you. My better half gave it up 4 years ago after recognising she had a problem. Her dad is in his late 60s and is still imprisoned by his lifelong alcohol addiction. She didn’t want to go the same way. It’s been very tough for her at times but the longer it goes the easier it gets. Congrats again!
