Jesus wept. We're not sitting on billions. Just because the owner is worth a fortune doesn't mean it gets spent on Barnsley FC, one of the many businesses he has a vested interest in. The Wolves owner has chosen to splash the cash, our owner hasn't indicated that's the route we'll be taking. He shouldn't be criticised for that.
That is so not how it works.......... Thank god you are not in charge of the finances at the club as we’d be bankrupt within a year
My gripe is folks who think there is a fast lane on dual carriageways or motorways. Last time I checked they are all 70mph (max) lanes. Am thinking you probably mean outside lane. Have a think.
You own 9 Billion pounds and you spend 15 million on wages which could garner 120 million. How does that make you bankrupt???
It COULD in your mind. It's fairly unlikely it will. As Patrick Cryne quoted many times, the fasted way to become a millionaire is to start as a billionaire and buy a football club.
hahaha. The Venky's are brilliant and Oyston is a top bloke. It's ok that they haven't spent a dime. Of course he should be criticized if we don't increase the wage structure and quality of players. Buying a club and not spending to ensure it improves makes you a bad owner. * I am not saying he is like the other owners mentioned
1. If we spent 15 million in one year on wages we’d be getting fined by FFP in no time. 2. Spending big money on players does NOT guarentee promotion and this 120 million pay out you keep mentioning. Look at the Owls as a prime example. Mr Chansiri has been in charge around 3 years throwing money at it and look where they are. So what happens if we do spend 15 million a year in wages and spend 4 years stuck in the league with no promotion? Answer that question we’d be at least 60 million down with FFP fines all over the show and be in serious issues
There are no roundabouts on motorways are there? 3 lanes is not relevant. And there is a lane for those who go faster than others - the outside lane - which those should leave once they've passed owt and not stay in it just because they're turning right in half a mile. .
The biggest thing for me would be an upgrade of our academy and getting some highly experienced coaches in - long term - 10 years+ that will be the greatest thing that will change this club for ever.
First line is the problem with this club. Never have had the ambition and positiveness to push for the promised land like Burnley and Huddersfield. If you don't want to lose any of your wealth then don't buy a club.
You live in a different world pal. Why can't he just run the business like it has been for the last three years. Cuckoo
Burnley didn't spend big. That had a strategy and a coaching team they put their faith in. What's wrong with buying a football club and thinking you can make a success of it without losing money?
Hmm, they certainly spent a lot more then we ever have. I think we need to keep our feet on the ground with regard to the money tree, but lets face it, if Mawson gets sold in this window - added to all the other transfer fees over the last couple of years, there is some argument that we could afford to spend *SOME* money.
Because it had been run like that due to the previous owner having a lot less money. Keeping it the same way just displays a lack of desire to improve the club. We all know the previous regime was a shambles of selling the best players and not replacing them time & time again which resulted in us being unable to compete. If we had the spending power last January there is no way a player who'd had his head turned by a rich chinese owner would be scoring against us today.
