Tbf, I'd like to think a fish was thrown because it wasn't a bottle...not just because it happened to be the thing had in his hand. I'd like to think the vast majority of people who would throw a battered fish, would know not to throw a glass bottle. That said, at least one chump eventually would. And that's one too many.
But surely they won't be serving beer in glass bottles if they do get rid of the ban. Would think that would be a fairly obvious thing to do.
But the match can be watched on TV screens in the exec boxes so Curtains closed watch on a screen OK, Curtains open watch through the window illegal we live in a mad world
They used to sell beer in bottles back in the 70s. I remember a photo on the front pages of the tabloids after Rangers had played at Leeds. Thousands of broken bottles on the floor. Quite a few of their own fans hospitalised. You're right although I still wouldn't fancy being hit by a can or plastic bottle lobbed from the back of the stand.
This^ I completely understand people who don’t want to be in stands w people drinking (though the same drinkers will have drunk prior and at half time). But the rule means that people behind glass need to have curtains closed just makes a mockery of football fans. I generally drive to games, but if I didn’t, having a couple of beers would be welcome. But being ‘drunk’ is completely counterproductive.
Mmmmm.... I wouldn't be so sure. I sit in the West Lower and I'm quite capable of spilling my beer sat at home on the sofa watching TV so a football match would be even more problematic
Not for me. As others will testify, I don't mind a drink. I like a pre match beer with friends. However, I don't like being soaked in beer that has been tossed into the air, and I don't like the way some people behave because they can't handle their drink. If you need a beer that desperately head out at half time. There are enough hours in the day for drinking. Surely 90 minutes is not too long to wait. However it is managed, plastic bottles, or pint pots, it just has disaster written all over it. Some people can't behave - just look at the concourses on away days. What on earth would make clubs think that folks will sit down in an orderly fashion if they can take their beer in with them?. Find it quite ironic that I have had the lid of a bottle of water removed at games before, and now it's suddenly ok to let p#ssed up people have more alcohol right next to the pitch.
Yes https://sgsa.org.uk/alcohol-at-football-grounds/ As daft as it is, the TV screen is not directly looking at the pitch.
