I really feel for Joe Root, trying to captain whilst constantly carrying the weight of the batting for most of the side on his shoulders.
I think we should relive him of the burden of the captaincy and let him concentrate on his own game.
Silverwood should definitely go, and I'd like them to fetch in a captain with some real nous, bit like Mike Brearley , not a fantastic player but got the best out of his team.
Buttler must surely be on borrowed time though ( what a stupid shot) , you have also got to query a schedule that left us with no replacements with any meaningful match practice!

I don’t feel for joe root at all. I think him and Silverwood have contributed towards this mess with their so called leadership. Players are actually getting worse under his watch.

If the series was 1-1 and not two matches that were one sided the ground would have been packed. Just watching Tymal Mills for the unbeaten Perth Scorchers get another couple of wickets. 90+ MPH and most of the time on the stumps so the batter has to play it. I wish his body could hold up to more than T20.

India approaching 100 without loss on day one v Boks.

Not saying they will win, nor will they necessarily post a record score.

    Bit what they have done:
    Seen off the openers.
    And the 1st change.
    Aged the ball.
    Used up 5 bowlers.
    Watched SA heads drop.
Set a platform for the next batsmen.

    Just an observation.

The best spinner we have does not play test cricket, it is a crying shame that Rashid is not playing but you reap what you sow, he was taken on tour several times in his younger days as a drinks carrier instead of gaining the experience he needed to progress , if he had been Australian he would have 100 caps by now .

Would be interesting to see how much red ball cricket the Indian team get to play outside of test matches, compared to englands batters, because at the moment, the volume of white ball cricket feels like a convenient excuse for poor coaching, captaincy and players at times

maybe he could concentrate on leadership if he didn't have to keep baling the batsmen out and wasn't lumbered with the worst test batting line up in memory

Exactly, no idea who else could captain and score runs, they can't even get to 20!

Root great player crap captain Silverwood not up to the international coaches job. Senior players not listening to captain or coach younger players not good enough toxic mix and 5-0 looks a certainty at the minute

KL Rahul played a wonderful knock today. The skill and determination in making away test match hundreds away from home is magnificent, particularly when opening the batting.

This is what I said in one of my earlier posts in this thread. There's clear disharmony in the playing group and coaching team which must be making for a horrible atmosphere. Batsman having a go at the bowlers, bowlers being criticised for their lengths, Silverwood saying that in hindsight he'd have still selected the same teams for the first two test matches when in contrast the bowling coach said we got it wrong not selecting a spinner in Adelaide.
I see nothing other than a 5-0 whitewash and the following should all leave their positions after this tour:
    Chris Silverwood
    Jon Lewis
    Graham Thorpe
    Joe Root
    Ashley Giles

The other thing I found astonishing was that we don't have a specialist fielding coach on this tour. The ECB couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

Id be looking at getting the likes of Jason Gillespie and Paul Collingwood into the fold.

And with regards to Root not being captain i see no other candidates who could do a better job. Or someone who has captaincy potential.

Dizzie would command the respect of those players and get them organised. Top bloke too by all accounts.
I would move Broad and Anderson on, time to rip it up after this series and plan for the future. Some short term pain for long term gain. Oh and we need to choose a spinner and bloody stick with them, not piss them around like we've done with Leach and Bess.

Only folk of note in this current set up who play like they give a **** are Root Stokes and Robinson. The rest. Meh.
