So I've just turned it back on and wow. Was hoping we could restrict the Aussie to around 200 all out but it looks like it just got away from us a little. Fair play to the bowlers though overall as that was a good effort.

    The batsman, deary me.

Hameed won’t score runs at this level with his current technique.

Are you going to go and blame the bowlers again after this defeat Joe? That's the ashes gone now. Pathetic bunch of losers. I hope the bowlers are ripping the batman to bits in the dressing room.

22/4, perhaps they should claim extra 30 mins ;-)

Can they remove official test status from England and then at the level below we may be competitive against Scotland and the Netherlands!

poor batting but don't take away cummins & starc bowled a phenomenal spell with the ball
only thing to save us now is to get those who tested positive to do the squads tests later

Well that was worth staying up late for but not so much getting up early for.

Malan aside, and Root obviously, what a shower of *****.

Crawley is shocking. He could save money on sun block by only putting on his face the amount he needs for the length of his innings. And Leach - absolute waste of a space in the team

    Why are you targeting Leach?
We need a spinner to play and he's the best we've got (which I appreciate doesn't say much about the county system). Who else would you play? He's been pissed around that much by Silverwood and Root and never had time to settle in the England team.
Regarding Crawley, no different to Burns in that they're both a waste of space.
Hameed, Butler and Woakes have been nothing short of disgraceful. I've never rated Woakes and find it pathetic that we picked him in the first two tests because he offered a bit of insurance with the batting when he's suppose to be a front line bowler. He's a medium pacer that's done **** all.

Being honest that's the best we've bowled so far this tour. You've got a big problem when you've only got 185 on the board. Even if we'd got to 250 (another 70 odd runs which shouldn't have been too much to ask!) we'd have been right in the game. The bowlers should be tearing strips off the batsman tonight. Not much more they could have done.

Leach to me just looks a poor cricketer all round, and I don’t have an alternative so would just rely on the part time options. He might have been messed around but that’s purely because they have no confidence in him for the reason that he’s not good enough
id prefer Burns over Crawley and maybe even Sibley would get my nod but possibly my memory of the summer has faded too quickly.
It’s all too predictable I’m afraid

Assuming anyone playing international cricket for England has at least a ery high level of ability the largest burden for a Test Batter is mental strength.
Unfortunately at this point they are likely shot to bits. It's almost cruel that's it's a 5 test series. The only hope we have now is that once we lose this test and the series that the Aussies lode some focus and our players relax. I doubt it though.

    I think you’re a bit harsh on Woakes…
He gets selected in Tests as an all rounder and should be utilised as that for home series alone.
He averages 4 wickets per match in England which is very good ??

If Curran and Archer had been fit, he may not have gone to Australia.

I do agree though that his test days should be over now, leaving him to concentrate on white ball cricket.

I cant believe how bad we have been.

Every test match we appear to be getting worse.

Can you tell me which lottery numbers definitely won’t come up this week?

What I don’t understand is why we have a decent limited overs batting side but play a test and almost all our batsmen struggle to get into double figures

Perhaps my beef should be with the ECB. Don't get me wrong, Woakes is a nice guy but he's just typical of what we produce. 80-83mph bowler who can bat a bit, good in English conditions when the ball is moving around but offers nothing in Australia and Asia. Until the system is changed then this is what we will keep producing.

If it was boxing we could at least chuck the towel in to save them further punishment and in this case embarrassment !

we play 4 day cricket in April and September
    We use duke balls
We prepare green top pitches to get results
The ECB have invested in one day cricket for 10 years
Kids growing up want to whack it not block it

The circle of life will turn one day. We will maybe in 10 years have 5 cracking test batsmen
