I actually DO have some sympathy with Palace .... What should have happened, though? It beggars belief that both the ref AND the linesman got it wrong, especially as, if for no other reason, the body language of the players on both sides was telling them that a legitimate goal had been scored. I think it was childish of Warnock to refuse to shake the hands of the Bristol City players and staff, though. Should they have tried to tell the ref? Should they have allowed Palace to dribble the ball into their net for a goal? Should Palace players have refused to play on? Should the match be replayed. I think that, it becoming clear that to everyone apart from two officials that a blatant error had occurred, Bristol players should have owned up. Failing that, it would have been good sportsmanship to have allowed Palace to score a goal, but then I don't support either of them, so I don't know what I would say if it were a goal for, or against the Reds.
Aw, come on Allen Does that mean you are now satisfied that Preston's goal against BSFC the other week went over the line, merely because the Preston players celebrated? Footballers will appeal for absolutely ANYTHING and it is THEIR DISHONESTY that makes the Ref's job so difficult... On saturday evening, Warnock was asked (by the bbc) what he would have done had the boot been "on the other foot" - and he completely ducked the issue.
for me if a player is injured and the other team kicks the ball out then you give it them back because its called being a good sport. Fans hate players who dive because it isn't sporting so when players know the ball has gone in they should be good sports and own up to it. There's too much cheating in football and its about time that people played with the right attitude and started being more honest. Look at fowler a few years ago, was given a penalty that he knew shouldn't have been so he deliberatly missed.
