... So how is he going to pick between the 3 options if he hasn't worked with the current players and seen what we need? I think you forgot what you posted originally because you said we didn't need to wait until he came in, but you've just confirmed that we do because he makes a choice between 3 players.
How does him setting the criteria for the players he wants equate to him having nothing to do with recruitment?
No what I'm saying is that is poppycock from GG. 'We will try and get his first choice'. Basically he gets who he wants while trying to make out the head coach has an input.
That's purely your slanted interpretation of what he said and totally at odds with what he actually did say.
That'll be why we haven't got Akinfenwa then. I've heard all our last 4 managers wanted him as the first choice, but GG told them to **** off, he makes the decision not them and he only likes players that are not PURE MUSCLE.
not at all, the manager should go out and select who he wants not be restricted or have players given to him. the plan is flawed
It works perfectly well throughout most of europe etc. What if his first choice isnt interested? He goes to his second, third etc? Wasting his time on transfer negotiations. The coach needs to be on the training ground perfecting systems, developing players. Motivating. I'm sure when laying down his criteria for players he's likely to mention if he wants a specific player within our system. Or is the alternative to just go out and spend ourselves silly?
In the English Football League the best way is to get a manager like Grayson, Warnock etc who are not yes men. The managers job is so much better if he can coach players he actually wants
well it is stupid and we leave ourselves behind our rivals because quality managers like Grayson will not stand only being head coach
So he's going to have zero input after he's assessed the squad to suggest where we need to improve based upon the style of football he wants to play? Or right then
I thought we'd earlier categorically proved that that's not the case. Is that being conveniently ignored again.
well not really we make things harder for ourselves ,would be so simple to appoint Grayson as manager and then he goes out and sign 10 proven League 1 players.
