    But what does it hurt to clap or not clap for 60 seconds

    We sit and watch 90 minutes of poor football but we cannot clap for 60 seconds (to make this difficult time for the family that little bit easier)

    What would happen if a life long Barnsley fan passes away in the close season?. Look at what happens when sports people pass away they get a round of applause during the Sports Personality of the Year Show.

    Agree completely.

    If you don't know the people that pass away, what are you clapping for? The whole point of clapping when someone dies in honoring their life. If you didn't know them, you have no idea what you're honoring.

    I didn't know Phil, therefore I won't be clapping. That doesn't mean that I'm not sad when someone dies - quite the opposite. I just don't see the point when I've never met the guy.
