I'm enjoying the mini Renaissance myself and hoping it continues into the weekend so it doesn't spoil the planned drinking session. Viva Lee Johnson
It's looking good at the minute. Most folk are sure we aren't even playing to the best of our ability and yet we've taken the same number of points from the first 9 games of the season as we did in the 05/06 promotion season, so there should be plenty of optimism. There's also the omen that the last time we were in League One with Colchester and Southend all three of us went up. Swindon Town 06 August 2005 2 0 League One Oakwell S****horpe United 09 August 2005 1 2 League One Glanford Park Colchester United 13 August 2005 0 1 League One Layer Road Yeovil Town 20 August 2005 1 0 League One Oakwell Brentford 27 August 2005 1 1 League One Oakwell Swansea City 29 August 2005 1 3 League One Liberty Stadium Nottingham Forest 10 September 2005 2 0 League One Oakwell Gillingham 13 September 2005 3 0 League One Priestfield Stadium Milton Keynes Dons 17 September 2005 0 0 League One National Hockey Stadium This looks strikingly similar to 05/06. We've scored slightly more and let slightly more in this time. But there's an away draw with the early strugglers (MK DONS/Blackpool), a win-to-nil over Gillingham, beating Swindon at home, scraping through 1-0 at home to Yeovil (Burton) and a comprehensive defeat away at another Play-Off hopeful (Swansea/Rochdale) OK I'm clutching at straws but I'd still say we should be hopeful of a successful campaign.
Hope we can keep the run going. Confidence is the key this season. Not had much opportunity to go thus far due to DJ work, but watched most of the games in full on player. Walsall is next match I can make. My only issue thus far is we only seem to have one way of playing. There is no Plan B for the physical cynical sides. We made an early breakthrough vs Gillingham fortunately. Slightly more optimistic we could make a playoff place, if we gain more than we lose in January player wise.
I'd gauge the mood as apathetic. The positive posts are about the signs of optimism and the young talent; the negative ones are about the lack of entertainment, the cost and the loans etc. Positive posters get shot down, so do the negative, so like our performances it's all fairly neutral at present. I've had a go at the entertainment value and at the fact I was unconvinced about LJ ........ but what the hell, I missed a few games but I was back last week and pleasantly surprised. Not the finished article but signs were good. After visiting the Keepmoat last season, I am giving it a miss in favour of walking in the Lakes tomorrow, but am fully hopeful of a positive result and to seeing us again next week. A positive board won't return overnight, but the signs are good and I look forward to us all waxxing lyrical for the rest of the season.
