Well twist the figures to suit your own standpoint I thought we sold abart 8k for newcastle and that again was limited "on police advice" as far as I am aware.
RE: not true Thank you sir........ and for what it's worth these are my own persoanl re-quaintances of such followings: 80/81: Rotherham (FA Cup) 9,000 sold out in 48 hours Huddersfield Got to be about 9,000 minimum Middlesbrough 13,000 Enfield (FA Cup Replay) 7,500 (official) and there were only 2/3 days to make arrangements to get down there (When the FA Cup was great and not run by Sky/Man Utd/ Police) Sheff Utd 8,000ish 81/82: Rotherham 9,000 Sheff Wed 9/10,000 Liverpool (League Cup) 17,000 82/83: Rotherham 7,000 Plus such numbers as 1,000 to Chelsea in 81/82, and it was a very shitty place to visit back in those days!!!! Blah! Blah! Blah!
RE: Well twist the figures to suit your own standpoint i thought we had sold 8,000 for newcastle an'all</p>
Chill art man, I'm not 'twisting the figures' ..... .... truth is we are both guessing so lets fecking leave it at that FFS
RE: Well twist the figures to suit your own standpoint i could have sworn we took 52,000 to torquay a few years ago
WTF has 1,000 to Chelsea got to do with .... .... our best ever followings? Ok then, I thought 35 to Torquay on a cold November Tuesday night in 1978 was our best following
RE: WTF has 1,000 to Chelsea got to do with .... I waserely pointing out that we had a bloody good following back in those days and the Chelsea bit was a bit of a ad-hoc thing . Can you not see that?
I know that, I was going every week ....... .... we had a great following everywhere in 1979/80 .... until we played Millwall away and 1000 **** themselves and stayed at home whilst about 100 of us took our lives in our hands and braved the old Den. You can't tell me about away followings mate, I've seen 'em all
RE: I know that, I was going every week ....... And so have i mate.... 600 at Reading (ok we lost 7-0) and then 70 to Millwall (one coach and a minibus). The following year a few more decided to brave it........... and our bloody coach got toppled in that car park and we had to wait for a new one to arrive - curtains drawn on the way out etc. I seem to recall a certain chap from Cudworth throwing stink bombs, plus providing them to fellow supporters, in the away pen that day.
RE: PS. Our special train got bricked at Reading by Chelsea fans!! How did you know they were Chelsea fans? Did they have "You have just been bricked by Chelsea" on the bricks? maybe an early intro into the fad of the so-called calling card mullarky??
