So BMBC are not responsible for the Developement of the town?

Surely they have had enough time to provide sufficient land / incentives / planning help to ensure we got a multiplex.

How many towns / urban districts of 200,000 plus dont have a fecking cinema FFS.

    Arrogance, Complacency, Incompetance..take your pick.

Sunderland didn't have a cinema 'til earlier this year. Sunderland is the biggest city between Leeds and Edinburgh (according to their council).

Every town has the Oliver Twist effect. Those areas furthest away tends to get overlooked and less investment.

Let's be honest here guys. In terms of both inward and outside investment and status, Donny is light years ahead of Barnsley and the gap between Donny and Barnsley is growing and will continue to grow. That is not to say Barnsley is not a great town. It's a lot more user friendly than Donny is. I work in Donny and have seen first hand the transition, but this is mainly due to its strategic location on the motorway network. On the other hand I do not want Barnsley to go the way Donny is going. Donny is a bit like Sheffield now in that it has lost its character/roots. Barnsley has not and long may it not change.
