Isn't the key word "Balance" though?

If you look at the fantastic team that got us to the promised land, it was a mix of experienced players, youth team graduates and players plucked from non league. For every Hendrie, there was an Andy Liddell, for every Neil Thompson, we had a Nicky Eaden. Then throw in a few unknown foreign lads that turned good and you have a brilliantly balanced team.

Maybe your right and we are one or two experienced players away from the magic formula, but unless they can be fetched in within the clubs wage limit we have to stay away. Last time we "Chased the dream" we almost didn't have a club to support...

Other thing to bear in mind, is that back in the day, players like Hendrie and Wilkinson, although they were relatively well paid whilst playing at the top level, it wasn't to the point that they could pass up another year or two of income by dropping down a division and playing for "little old Barnsley." Now, players of similar talent are paid £30k-£40k per week. There is just no incentive for them to "slum it" at an unfashionable second tier club.

At the end of the day, there are teams with much bigger budgets than what we could ever afford that have tried(and still trying) and failed(and still failing) to get a piece of the Premier League riches...
