I’d have had more respect had you simply apologised and moved on but by doubling down you’ve made yourself look stupid.
If the title had been worded differently and then your tale told after, this wouldn't have received all the attention .
I expected to open a post similar to things I saw this morning from American friends. Particularly Elaika, who lost her mother on the day. Why wait until today to talk about a dull arsed football result from 50 odd years ago.? You just know he’s been sitting on this ‘joke’ for days. & that’s what makes it sick.. I’m just wondering if it got a laugh on the Dundee pages, whichever one he follows. After Dunblaine, I doubt it..
Apart from the fact that the title refers to 9/11. The whole world knows what 9/11 means but in any other context not related to the events of that day, no-one in the UK would refer to today's date as 9/11 because that is the American date format. So you did very much reference the US event and really, you know you did.
Misjudged, that’s all. We all put our feet in our gobs, time to time. Just having a laugh? I know I have. Remove & move on.
I'm a fan of dark humour and I've laughed at more than a couple of 9/11 jokes in my time. This was just terribly misjudged. Not sure what response you expected on here when you post something like this.
TBF it's not as if the OP backed killing loads of Afghans and Iraqis, before repenting at leisure for 20 years and then casually turning to the sports the page.
I don’t believe there’s ‘intentional malice’. But still needs calling out, as gobshite. Ian is a valued member of the board. He’ll be embarrassed now. But let it go..
I celebrated a significant birthday in January of the same year the attacks happened, I was on the top of the tower and was amazed at the scale of the buildings My friend owned a bar less than 3 blocks from the towers and a lot of his customers worked there We know a lot of his friends perished in the attacks so never a good time to remember Poor post and in poor taste
