I'm reasonably pleased with how things are going. If this is the start of a 5 year plan (sure KH mentioned that somewhere) then I think we've made great strides forward this year. We're playing much better football, we've got players on the cheap who are making the step up well and we've got a few more round the corner. We're obviously missing that 10-15 goals a season striker at the moment (Haynes or Davies may turn out to be that player) but I think KH will be hopeful of rectifying that if the right player becomes available. If we keep playing good football, and maybe get a bit of luck along the way I think we'll finish higher than last season and hopefully have a productive close season for a good assault on the division next year. Onwards on upwards for me.
moderate at best..... in general, poor league position and must do better in order to bring in some decent crowds
Slow, but steady, progress. We're not the finished article by any stretch of the imagination. However, the style of football in most games has been pleasing on the eye and it is my opinion that we'll be okay this season.
I've started enjoying watching us again I think Keith Hill's as good a manager as we can ever dream of in the current situation we've put ourselves in. A bloke who is quite happy to embrace spending less than any other team and work with what he's got without compromising his beliefs. Also, to say that this season is the same as the rest is pretty short sighted to say the least - a cut in budget, wage bill etc etc and we're still matching previous performances results wise and also playing loads better football. I don't know what people really expect.
Re: How can you compare it to previous years Exactly. I've been tempted back. But when I did see us last year we were ****. And Nathan Doyle always played. And Andy Gray didn't.
Re: You've not been that tempted though have you More tempted than I was for the past 3 years. Leave me alone. You're starting to annoy me.
I think we have done OK, no more no less. I have seen some posts that if you believe them, it would seem like we are playing like Barcelona!! No we are playing well in patches, poor in patches, just like other seasons. Some lovely passing football, but only when we have 1 striker, when we push 2 up and Butterfield out wide we struggle. Other teams have worked out we rely on Butterfield for our creativity and nullify him, so far we are struggling to come up with a plan B that works. Hopefully Hill can find something else, but he is taking his time on that one. If Hill concentrated on his responsibilities with the team and stopped blaming the fans for every loss, then there would be a more harmonious feel . Some love him , some dislike him, some just dont understand him or his manners. We can move on up the table, but we will end up in around the bottom 6. That is my opinion, not one that I expect some to agree with, mind.
Been quite mild so far but some bitterly cold weather to come in next third of season. Could do with some winter sun. That bird four doors darn has got a reight arse on her. Must get the ale in for Chrimbo. That reev aint as contraversial as he use to be.
