I'd probably add Jim Dobbin into that list too. A phase where he got absolute dogs abuse just for being selected.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Danny Wilson.

The stick he got when he started playing for us was incredible.

Then eventually folk realised it were the players around him making him look crap. He was 3 steps and passes in front of them around him.

Rory Fallon. Got absolutely slated on a regular basis. He was asked to play on his own up front, won loads of possession in the air, but because of the formation the ball still invariably fell to the opposition. He started to show his quality elsewhere, his overhead kick in the 2006 play off final being one obvious example.

Agreed. Bambi, my arse. Scored goals wherever he went & bullied Canavaro big time at the World Cup.
A word for Luke Beckett, too. Undervalued & seen as surplus. The amount of goals he scored after he left us is staggering..

I’ll never forget the stick Nicky Eaden got towards the end. Totally unjustified & I know it really upset him. Could have been a one club player, that lad..

When Wilson first came he thought he could do a Glen Hoddle and spray 40 yard passes all over the pitch when it was never his game. As I remember, after that near exit in the FA Cup at Bromsgrove, he settled down and started doing what he was good at, snapping at players ankles, winning the ball and passing more accurately.

Bobby Hassle got some right dogs abuse in his first 10 games or so. He was awful.

He was extremely unsteady at the start of his Barnsley career. Didn't remotely look like a footballer. So much so, that @Chef Tyke and I nicknamed him "Bobby Floyd Hassellw@nk". It's fair to say that he proved us very wrong.

Phil Chambers got lots of abuse but he was the most consistent player who continually played in the 4th, 3rd and second division(Championship in old money)

It's not so much that they were fab.

More that they've been over castigated vilified and pilloried. Sort of.

    Hristov
    Wiseman
    Kennedy
    McNulty

Sheron was decent. But on a bangs for bucks scale he was well gobbo.
