Really? I would argue to the contrary but I don't think the opposite argument shows a lack of knowledge, just a different opinion.
Your right, I just see what he does and with the right balance he will regain his confidence. At the min it's schoolboy stuff we play. Kick it long, no one in s position and just all over the place with no thought. But that must be Wilson's way as it seems a common theme when you talk to fans if his former clubs.
Don't think he did, did he? Played far too deep with Wilson barking orders at him if he pushed too far up. Not much freedom when he was continually told to drop back. A bit like with Paddy.
Mellis - please get rid Can anyone show me evidence of this supposed talent that people claim he has I can show you in turn lots of evidence of a lazy slow overated player.
Wilson played Mellis in the hole, the Butterfield position, the most advanced midfielder, on a number of occasions. Latterly against Burnley, Watford and Forest, a few games when Wilson first took charge and a number of times when he changed the team around or brought Mellis on as a sub. He played Mellis in what is supposed to be his best position, the position that has the most freedom, the one that's supposed to make the team tick and Mellis failed to deliver. A big factor in our relegation is that no one Wilson used in that position did anything much at all. Where Butterfield orchestrated the game during Hill's time in charge, the players Wilson used weren't up to it. I guess Cywka gave the best performances, but he was either lukewarm or freezing cold, Shea didn't want to be here, McCourt produced nothing like he had for Flicker and Mellis was more or less anonymous. I know you don't like Wilson, and with the results we achieved so far there are criticisms to be made, but he gave Mellis plenty of opportunity in the position in which he's supposed to excel and he let his manager down, just about every time. Wilson didn't achieve what we all hoped. Some will blame him for that. But I reckon if you don't look to the players and see their limitations, and in Mellis' case a lack of application too, then you're missing what was startlingly obvious.
Mellis played well against Forest, some of the other games he was barked at by Wilson to get back whenever he went past the half way line. Like I said, in league 1 he'll be a special player if played right. I seem to remember Jacob Butterfield getting the same shouts and so did Hammill. Steve Agnew got stick too. It's always that type of player at Oakwell. The thing us we treat our players like s**t. Then have a go at them when they leave calling them greedy b****rds. But to be honest, Oakwell is a poor place for a home player. More than half empty, 7 blokes in the top corner of the ponty only ones attempting to get an atmosphere going.
There's no guarantees wholesale changes will do the trick either. That could well drop us down another division. Got to keep/retain/ sign Steele, mvoto, ramage, Lawrence, cwyka, O'Brien, digby, Jennings, ogrady. The rest of the so-called first team can go for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
