Worked with Bob a few years ago, know him socially and he's also a member of this board.

He follows the Red's home and away. If you know Paul.d and have seen him at the away matches Bob's his mate with the beard.

He's an absolutely cracking bloke and one of the nicest you could meet.

Probably Barnsley Colleges most loyal employee over the last 20 years or so and has been treat disgustingly by the powers that be.

Add your support - it costs nowt and might just help make a difference!

So he is sacked for Gross Misconduct.......................

I Lectured for over 15 years in FE Colleges and unfortunately this is not an isolated incident.

Ever since Colleges became Independent Corporations in the early 90s there has been hundreds if not thousands of Lecturers forced out of their jobs.

To prevent staff taking the Colleges to an Industrial Tribunal for unfair dismissal, a offer, which is usually 6 months wages is made. If the offer is accepted they are asked to sign a confidentiality agreement. Staff usually accept because of the stress they have be placed under. This hushes things up and keeps it out of the press.Union officials were most often but not always the target. At a College I worked at staff would often leave mid-term with out any explanation.

My take on Barnsley College is that Bob is being sacked for "Gross misconduct" for following the Colleges own disciplinary procedure in wanting to issue a Final Written Warning. First time I have ever come across that being "Gross Misconduct". Whatever the outcome it will not be the Senior Management Team who will pick up the bill for all this it will be the tax payer.

I wish Bob the best of Luck in all this.
