top seven teams win all there matches apart from each other when they draw and we could mi ss out on goal differance ie 34 wins and 12 draws each

    I think

What is the absolute minimum number of points that it is possible to stay up on in a standard season (24 teams)? 6 points

What is the minimum points that it is possible to get into the play-offs on? 36 points

What is the maximum points that you can be relegated on? 75points

And what is the maximum that you can miss out on the play-offs on? 114 points

    for a more realistic viewpoint.......................

it's better to look at what actually happened over a number of seasons</p>

    in the Championship in the 20 seasons since the league went to 24 teams the following is true </p><table width="144" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" style="border-collapse: collapse"> <tbody><tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px; width: 71px" class="xl73"></td> <td style="width: 69px" class="xl73">Max</td> <td style="width: 52px" class="xl74">Min</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">1</td> <td class="xl70">106</td> <td class="xl75">81</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl69">2</td> <td class="xl68">92</td> <td class="xl76">79</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">3</td> <td class="xl71">90</td> <td class="xl77">74</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">4</td> <td class="xl71">88</td> <td class="xl77">73</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">5</td> <td class="xl71">83</td> <td class="xl77">71</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl69">6</td> <td class="xl69">76</td> <td class="xl78">70</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">7</td> <td class="xl71">75</td> <td class="xl77">67</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">8</td> <td class="xl71">74</td> <td class="xl77">63</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">9</td> <td class="xl71">72</td> <td class="xl77">62</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">10</td> <td class="xl71">69</td> <td class="xl77">60</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">11</td> <td class="xl71">68</td> <td class="xl77">59</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">12</td> <td class="xl71">65</td> <td class="xl77">55</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">13</td> <td class="xl71">65</td> <td class="xl77">55</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">14</td> <td class="xl71">62</td> <td class="xl77">55</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">15</td> <td class="xl71">61</td> <td class="xl77">54</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">16</td> <td class="xl71">59</td> <td class="xl77">53</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">17</td> <td class="xl71">58</td> <td class="xl77">50</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">18</td> <td class="xl71">58</td> <td class="xl77">48</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">19</td> <td class="xl71">58</td> <td class="xl77">47</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">20</td> <td class="xl71">55</td> <td class="xl77">47</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl69">21</td> <td class="xl69">53</td> <td class="xl78">47</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">22</td> <td class="xl72">52</td> <td class="xl79">42</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">23</td> <td class="xl72">49</td> <td class="xl79">35</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 17px"> <td style="height: 17px" class="xl71">24</td> <td class="xl72">45</td> <td class="xl79">26</td> </tr> </tbody></table>

    well.......................

if you look in more detail 50 or more has only gone down 6 times out of the 20 seasons and in each case it was on goals scored or goal difference</p>

I'm hoping that the -19 and -21 GD of Southampton and Charlton mean there's only really one place left to fight over-and as I said when he was appointed I think Gunn will take Norwich down-he has no managerial experience and they are on a poor run-although Plymouth may prove me wrong?</p>
