Only one problem….. somebody would have said something by now. Ex staff member, player or somebody… so I’m back to just thinking it’s crap decisions….
Not really....the sale of the ground and land is what would finance the new stadium....without that they would have to find huge amounts of money elsewhere to buy new land and build a ground. That's the good thing about the covenant.
I just think the 80% mobs faith in their competence far outweighs their actual competence when it comes to running football clubs basically they aren't deliberately ruining OUR club they're doing it through downright incompetence nothing more nothing less.
Ofcorse they want us to stay up, so long as it doesn't cost them a single penny. They want to be successful, but they want to be successful for free. As far as I can tell, these so-called billionaires haven't put a penny of their own money in, they've paid the Cryne's with money out of the clubs bank account instead of their own, they've not injected any capital into the squad and certainly not the ground other than what the club has generated from player/coach sales. We may as well have someone out of the dole queue as an owner, whilst putting absolutely nothing in the pot, at least they'll be local
But that’s a totally circular argument. In order to sell the ground they have to buy it. The council can’t do some great give away and sell the land below market value so the owners pay the market price. If they then look to flip the ground without investment there is no profit.
I would imagine if they have a massive outlay on a ground ffp will say we can’t spend anything either. A bit like the opposite of what Derby and Wednesday did?
I think the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has scuppered any chance the club will ever have of getting back to the Premier League unless someone genuine comes in Lock Stock and Barrel.
As I understand it. The covenant dictates that if Barnsley F.C leave Oakwell they owe money to the descendants of the people who gave up the land as it wouldn't be used by Barnsley F.C anymore.
I can double check but as I understood what I was told there isn’t a financial payment but the land itself reverts to descendants.
Can understand the thought process, but not convinced on the reason TBH because of the businessmen aspect others have posted about. However I have a theory that Dane went off script last year, got his legs slapped which resulted in him leaving. Then all what you have put followed, resulting in a disillusioned workforce. This then led to PC standing in and making some bad decisions in the Summer.
As much as I’d love to agree with all of your post I don’t think that is accurate; the initial purchase was paid by them, I think it was somewhere around the £6million mark.
Who will pay £10,800 ( the original purchase price) to get it back. Bit of a bargain wouldn’t you say??!!
Indeed though if it was a financial amount you could have set if to be adjusted for inflation but I’m fairly sure it’s not.
