Edit Already done to death... I’d not read the rest of the post.
We do not have first dibs at £14.5m, we have first dibs at a fee in line with what we normally spend according to Dane in several interviews.
The $20m figure is from a single IS journalist who keeps getting quoted.

I'm getting tired of talking/reading about this situation now. Regardless of what fee we agreed with Orlando there will be 10 other clubs happy to pay more and give him more in wages than we ever could.

The only way we'll ever see Dike back Oakwell is either on loan again or in an opposition shirt, unfortunately.

In my mind, there is only 2 ways we will be seeing big DK back at Oakwell in a red shirt. Either he is here on loan again to help his development after a big money move to a "big" club, or he thinks with his head and thinks that moving to a club he knows, where he can play first-team football in a competitive league, with the stability of a 3-4 year contract(with an agreed release fee) would be better for his career and earning in the long run.

I don't know why, but I can't see an agent letting him think the second option is the way forward for him...

The club tell you the value of our unsuccessful bids?

It was pretty widely reported that we'd agreed a £2 million plus fee for that striker last Summer. Croatian I think? Played in the Champions League. Dane even mentioned it at the Trust Q&A. We were also happy to go to £1.5m for Whitman plus add ons but no further.

I only gave that for context as your reply was 'that doesn't make any sense' like I was suggesting something obscene.

I don't even know how much we've paid for the players we have signed.

When Dane has spoken on the subject of Dike and that the agreed fee is in line with our spending on other first team players I certainly wasn't thinking 2-3 million which, on the low end of that range, would break our record transfer fee considerably and on the high end would double it.

We've definitely tried to spend more on players than we have in recent times since the new owners came in. The challenge is our wage bill doesn't automatically allow for the wage expectation of players in that particular price bracket. Were we at 78% of turnover on these most recent accounts?

All about interpretation rather than one of us 'not making any sense'. You took his comments as meaning previous signings whereas I've taken it as what we've been prepared to pay (and included adds on which would ultimately go with any deal for someone like Dike).

It's all a bit moot anyway as I think it's town hall steps territory for seeing him in a Barnsley shirt again.
