Adhered to the mob? The poll on here showed support for Wilson. He and his board reacted to a situation that wasn't there. In fact you can only speculate as to why he was removed.

He's since compounded that decision by being fooled by Lee Johnson. I can only think of one reason why he was brought in - prepared to comply with someone's vision of a team consisting only of young saleable assets.

If he pulls out and let's it die then so be it. Life will go on. I don't think for one second that he would anyway; why do all that he's done over the last 13 years just to let it die? I think he's got more about him, and I'm far from his biggest fan.

Being a successful businessman doesn't necessarily equate to being successful in running a football club. I don't always agree with Stan Collymore but he was discussing this very subject a few weeks ago and for once I was in total agreement with him. Personally I think PC needs some help, somebody with a football background who has a wealth of experience on and off the pitch, having said that he calls the shots and can surround himself with whoever he wants.

    Ah, **** it.

I just typed a long reply, realised some of it might have been libellous, and thought better of posting it.

Everything's great! We're going up! Lee Johnson's red-and-white army! Be proud, be Barnsley! You Reds!

(I guess you're right. It probably wasn't calm and measured. But sod it.)

Which mob would that be? Wilson wasn't sacked because of the fans demanding it, nor was he sacked for football reasons. I think you're way off with your assessment.

Perhaps there wouldn't be a need to 'prop it up' financially if it was run in a more efficient manner?

Rewind to 2013-14 season. Flicker and Danny's season of relegation. Look at the incomings and outgoings in terms of transfers, look at the squad we had then, and tell me it all adds up to a loss of over £2m.

Wasted money on ***** players, contracts given to lads who weren't going to play, some players given wages way over their talent, a new CEO, a new Chairman, a new marketing manager, paying off another manager, paying off players signed by that manager, paying a new manager, paying for his new players... etc etc.

Maybe that's why Johnson is staying? They've finally realised it's wasting money by sacking managers? Just a shame then that the manager they're giving more time to than any other in their time in charge of BFC looks to be the worst they've appointed. Which is saying something when you remember some of the wallies we've had in that dugout.

He'll leave the club in a far better state than the last one did even if we end up in div 4 .
There won't be bucket collection at fekin Hillsborough ffs
Maybe the footballs **** maybe we going down ( I'm not convinced on that ) but at least we got a club and a big part played in that by the current owner.
Its easy for fans to say how the club should be run its all part of supporting a club but to say Patrick doesn't know what he's doing is fekin arrogant IMO.
I don't want us to go down but if we do so be it I'll be there next season come what may .
I've watched low league **** football in the past but it was my team and I'll help keep it going for the likes of Conan to hopefully see a good team again if he's a mind.

We shall see. Depends on the exit strategy.

All I'll say is admin was avoidable.

Pointless debating it further. What will be will be. If Cryne chalks **** on it and let's the club die so be it. Life will go on. If he doesn't and new owners come in, the same.

There's only so many people that will continue to be grateful to have a club forever and a day. Especially when said club is sliding to the basement division for the first time in over 35 years.

Still, if they do go down and presuming they stay in business, a few more can get their 4th division badges. Always a positive.

Patrick will be hurting as much if not more.
Yes he has made some poor choices don't forget he has backed the wrong horse before....Risdale
...shepherd and this time.... who knows Mansford was a footballing agent with experience of deals etc a football man? Pc defo needs someone to help..just like the players do but I still much rather have the club RUN by him.

I wouldn't classify Mansford as a footballing man. He's an agent. As anti football as you can get.

Still, he was described as the best CEO we've ever had. The only one as far as I can recall like so akin to me saying my brother is the best brother I have. I've only got the one...

Run or owned? It's in between at the min as far as I can see. Maybe. Who ****ing knows?

He's not chalking fek on it though is he ? He's trying to find new owners avoiding the spivs and speculators .
The fact we have to continue to reiterate the club nearly folded is not because we ramming down anyone's throat but precisely for threads like this.
I personally don't watch us for league or position we're in otherwise I would never have started ,but if people want to use it as a cudgel to make a point that we just grateful to have a club and not bothered about success so be it as far as I'm concerned .
You think admin was avoidable, I'm not sure but the fact is we were and that PR was brought in to unravel the mess that Moyes and co had concocted to ensure a big payout to them choose whatever outcome the fate of our club.

It's been suggested in this thread that that is what he will do

I don't believe it for a second. I think he has more about him.

We all know the club nearly folded. I don't see why it's relevant today and in the context of the present situation we are in.

The only relevance as I can see it is don't question the owner and be grateful there is a club to worry about.

If you don't watch for league or position when the higher in the pyramid you are the better you are what do you watch for? We all keep going in the blind hope that we get better surely? Otherwise why do any fans turn up at **** clubs like ours?

Agree completely, but claiming he hasn't a clue what he's doing is pushing credibility way too far.

I have a number of issues with the way the club has been run under Mr Cryne's stewardship, the decisions made and the policies adopted. (Although I have no problem with him standing by a manager through a tough time, particularly as I, and many others who are now calling for Johnson's head, said that's exactly what he should do when our next period of poor form came along. He's doing it, we've moved the goalposts).

However, it's not a case of Mr Cryne being wrong and me being right, it's not the case that he doesn't know what he's doing and I do, it's a difference of opinion. Had everything I've suggested over the years been implemented, had the club been run how I would like, there's every chance we could be doing far worse than we are now. Given that I have no experience of running any kind of business at all and that I have no background in football what-so-ever, I reckon it's odds on that we would be performing even worse or even out of business altogether.

It's piss easy saying what should happen when using an internet forum. Our rantings on here don't cost money and jobs, they're not picked over by 10,00 supporters and the media, they're gone and forgotten in an hour, affecting no one. Mr Cryne's decisions are actually implemented, the repercussions can last for years and that's a different kettle of fish altogether. Fact of the matter is, we're still in business, we still have very good attendances for this league and only a few months ago many on here were predicting promotion. If we're in such a state and those in charge are incompetent, why did people believe we had a good chance of success this season?

I don't believe Mr Cryne is above criticism. I have a very different view of him than many of his supporters and have done for a considerable amount of time. But if criticism is directed his way it should fair and it should be specific rather than a catch all, 'he doesn't know what he's doing' because even though we're not successful at the moment, that simply isn't true.

I see Mr Cryne as someone who's taking a backseat from the club and letting Ben run it.

Ben is atrocious at is job. He wants all the up and coming superstars signed up, much like a agent does, which was is previous job coincidentally.

What i would give for Don Rowing back right now.

I don't think I'm vain enough to think I could do a better job than Mr Cryne and I'd be the first to thank him for what he has done for the club since he took over.

The problem that I think exists is that he is being badly advised by the people he has employed to help him run the club and that is where I think the criticism should be. He seems to have been blinded by a lot of pseudo nonsense and while I have no doubt he's done it with the best interests of the club at heart it seems to be having the opposite affect.

I'm quite sure he can see the mess we're in but he's the only one who can do anything about it; there are changes needed at boardroom level, either in strategy, personnel or both to arrest the decline. I could be wrong, we may turn a corner and never look back but unfortunately I'm not convinced that we're anywhere near the right track.

But how do you manage his success?

Surely getting a club with a 3rd division budget, promoted to the 2nd division and managing to stay there for 7 years is some sort of success. Sadly we were never able to build on that 4th from bottom stature that we'd gotten ourselves into, and a couple of bad decisions along the way have ultimately cost us our status in the 2nd tier. However I feel Patrick Cryne has achieved a lot more with this club than he is given credit for; sadly the last 2 years or so have been some of the most miserable as a Barnsley fan, and it has masked all the hard work put in.

So we got out of the 3rd division with a 3rd division budget? Hardly an achievement. In any case that would have been the manager's achievement not the chairman's.
