I'm usually easy going but this makes me angry. We never make a scene, we just pay up and don't go there again. They lose far more than they gain from us!

I was once paying for food and left a tip close to £100. I was that pissed when she asked me to put my pin in l had knocked it onto the tips section and then entered my 4 digit pin.

Woke up in the morning, rang them up and got it refunded - it's the Barnsley way...

Remember back in the 80's town was always dead after 4 o'clock - would meet my mum from work and shops were empty. Was the case on a Saturday as well - worked in market and no one was around after 4. It's why I was shocked when I moved to Liverpool as it was always full whateve

Annoys me immensely. We're not a country with a big tipping culture and we also have a minimum wage. Don't get me wrong I'm always happy to tip for good service, but it's a very different situation to the USA where the servers will literally starve to death without extra income from tips. Eating out is so phenomenally expensive in the UK these days that I genuinely feel that I'm doing my bit just by supporting restaurants. At £15 a main course and £7 a pint in most eateries these days, I really don't think I should feel guilty for not adding 10% onto a bill that if spent in a supermarket would keep the entire family fed for the best part of a week.

I'll be making a contribution to the local economy of Barnsley this weekend. I'm going for a few pints in town pre-match, a few in town post match. I'm probably going to have to eat at some point, and then we're going to a panto at the Civic on Sunday.

So I'll have done my bit.

    Lots of love,
    A Sheffield Resident.

I shall also be doing my bit for Barnsley's local economy on Saturday with a couple of pre-match drinks with family.

Talking of being proud of the town, just watching Winter on the Farm. It's from Cannon Hall in Yorkshire or Cannon Hall in South Yorkshire, theres a prize on there, cash plus a visit to Cannon Hall.... in Yorkshire, and a hotel in Leeds.

Is the narrator scared of mentioning Barnsley? Good job the Cannon Hall lads do.
