Tend to agree with McCarthy, last night was poor, in fact one of the worsed performances for a long time at Oakwell, and yes we got 3 points, and yes i am glad that we are 4th. But it wasn't all about last night. This season reminds me of the year we got promotion to the Championship, how many times we came away from the ground shaking our heads and wondered what the hell is going on,and how can a team like Barnsley be pushing for a play-off spot. Well come that great day at Cardiff and all was forgiven and forgotten. This campaign is panning out the same, some very poor performances at home but we are up there, and could a miracle happen a second time and will we all be tramping down to Wembley come next May? Will we SH*TE, untill Davey sorts out our poor mid-field then we shall see many more poor performances, we are constantly giving the ball away, putting pressure on our defence, ( who last night played very well ). I know we are much better off than last season points wise, but how long can our luck last with nearly the same mid-field who nearly got us relegated last term. Just a thought!!
Unfortunately I am now in that camp, much as I like to see us passing to each other and playing well , I'll take a win any way we can.

a wernt askin thee...............
I was asking the McCarthey at the top. Him at was blaming the booing on the manager and the players.

Absolutely Football is football, the players get the same wage if they play Mansfield or Wednesday.
And if you've paid more when Wednesday come to Oakwellyou're bound to moan more, cos we're always ***** against em!

RE: Absolutely All Barnsley fans should get in to Oakwell and Hillsborough for nowt. In fact we should get compensated for 90 minutes of pain topped off by Deedar b'stards singing the 'dingle family' and that stupid other song they do.
Don't think anyone's complaining about the win mate. That's what some of the more vociferous 'real fans' or 'positive' fans don't seem to understand. Three points is excellent, but everyone ought to have the right to comment on the game and express their feelings. Some people look for the 'what we could have improved' aspects - and are usually shot down as negative, while others like to look at what we did well, and are wearing 'rose tinted glasses' for doing so. Not everyone can find a happy middle ground, but you can bet a loss hurts just as much to all parties.
I was at home watching the match (ST holder but couldnt go). Glad i didnt make the trip too. No i didnt boo but my comments during and after the game wouldnt have pleased Mr Davey. On Saturday i thought we were poor too. I didnt boo then but i didnt clap and cheer like we had won the play offs like some were doing. I just left the ground a bit bemused as to how we had won again without playing well. I would guess i would have done the same last night if i had gone. Im not going to say i like something when i dont and currently i am not enjoying the football. But every paying fan has a right to let the people at the club know they arent happy. After all it is an entertainment business isnt it? What is hard to deal with is coping with two conflicting emotions. Its like yes we have won but yes we were crap.
I think this thread and numerous like them over the years have confused the argument, it certainly not the first time we've been down this road and won't be the last. Absolutely everyone is entitled to express an opinion and righly so. However, nobody will ever convince me regardless of the situation that 'booing' is a reasonable form of expression. It's simply bolox and those people need to be told. I think that's where the confusion or haziness always lies. These arguments always start with people having a go at others for booing and then turns into something else. "it's my right...I paid £x...I deserve better etc" If all you can do is stand there booing your own team, why would you bother? I simply don't understand it and I don't have to attend a single game ever to express that booing is just ****. And over the years nobody has convinced that it's a good idea and I don't think they ever will.
Agreed entirely. What I was referring to was post-game analysis. After the game, outside the ground, in the pubs and on bulletin boards, if you want to have a go, go for it, but while you're there, you support. End of.
Definitely. I think Davey and this team are finding a lot harder then they'd expect to find any kind of sustained support though. Building on last season is what we have set out to do as far as I'm aware, we're doing exactly that and more. Why aren't peoples expectations in line with reality anymore? We scraped survival last year, Davey has been out and bought players he believes will help us achieve a better campaign this time round. That's it really. We started exceptionally, got into the play-off spot and as soon as we're out of it, after a few poor games, people start booing the same team they were cheering last month. ffs you couldn't make it up.
RE: I was Again I agree with your comments. How else are the "fans" or whatever you want to call them, supposed to let the manager and the players know, that they are not pleased what they are being asked to support.
