    No we couldn't and that was proven by the fact that our bid centred around new stadiums and hundreds of millions being spent building them.

    No I don't think they should build them without having a proper plan set in place for using the stadiums after the event. I believe that the olympics, whilst a great spectacle, was a huge waste of money and an environmental disaster for this country with buildings going up and coming back down just weeks later.

    You've got to speculate to accumulate; the money they make from building said stadia will probably outweigh what they cost to build, which can only be good for the country considering that they still have a population still living in the favellas (sp). You've to think that they've also got the Olympics and World Cup to come, as well as the confederations cup they're hosting at the minute; they'll bring in a couple of million tourists at least.

    They could always pull the stadiums down after, or sell them to football clubs. I see your point, but I honestly don't see it as a waste.
