There's a dirty word no-one has considered. Clauses. If one is triggered the club can't do anything about it.
Or maybe you could just listen to any one of the countless interviews where this question has been asked. No statement required by me, I know exactly what the Club's position is.
I think with Sam there could be one, odd how Wednesday and Brentford have offered the same £500k according to Nixon.
I have no intention of selling my house and/or car. If someone offered me £500k for em both i'd snap their hand off.
I don't think we need a statement but if we do end up selling Winnall for 500k then what's been said in all the interviews is bullsh1t. Whether he wants to go or not it should only be at the right price.
Exactly. If someone offered me the right amount for my house they could move in this afternoon. It's a rented house so it would be a really good deal.
Not if you lived down here you wouldnt not for the house- its all relative. Now £500K for my car - I wasnt planning on selling but when do you want to come and collect - or I will even drop it off for you if you like
Unless it is a Sanity Clause, and everybody knows there is no such thing as a Sanity Clause. I would like to thank Chico Marx (1925) for this little gem.
i wouldn't go that far like, personally. i know where you're coming from, but just playing that out. let's say wednesday have offered him £20k a week. we know we won't be offering him even half that. with the best will in the world, sam is seeing an extra 500k a year. life changing amounts. you've got to expect him to want to go for that - wednesday or not. which then puts all parties in an uncomfortable situation. so if that were true, what statement would we realistically expect? one that says he went for twice the money we offered? one that says he pushed for the move? one that says we weren't able to match the offer so we let him go and had to take what was offered? i think it's a really tricky situation and whatever the Club do, they will get hammered in some way if he leaves in january. it will probably turn a fair few against sam as well, if he goes to wednesday. rightly or wrongly. this time last year we all said "just give us till the end of the season". he's given us more than that.
Id be more bothered about him going on the cheap than anything. He can go as long as we get a decent fee. I know everyone says he's out of contract so fee is lower. But we sit in 8th place 4 points off the play offs and he's got 11 goals. The club needs to be saying to any potential buyers ( and they may be for all we know) look where we are if you want him you need to pay a the right fee. Im sure Scott Hogan is desperate to go to West Ham and can likely double or triple his current wage but Brentford a being strong and holding out for an extra 3 mill on top of the 12 offered. yet going on past experiences our club will snatch the first offer of 500k just because the players says he wants to go earn more cash. if he gets his head down and scored more goals till the summer he'll get a bigger signing on fee and prob someone willing to pay him more
