That Moby bloke is one I think - they can only eat food that doesn't destroy the plant when harvested (i.e. falls from the plant)...

Apple and grilled tomato, anyone? Lovely...

    The average meat eater

consumes about 20 sheep, 20 pigs and around 500 chickens in a life time.

    Why not?

there is enough reasons not to,

my reason was for health though, too much red meat and whiskey.... although it could have been the whiskey that made me badly, I wasn't willing to make such a sacrifice so it was out with the red meat.

Most books about dogs, talk about sh*t by the second chapter. I think dog **** is collectively owned by Intel and every publisher has to mention it at some point.

    The way I see it.

We have so many years on this earth, we only get the one shot at it.

Should I deprive myself of things that bring me joy in order that I get an extra 10 or so years on my life, bearing in mind that those years will take me from 70 years up to 80 years, I won't get an extra 10 years of youth.

I don't smoke, I don't drink to excess anymore (well, not as often as I would like), I've given up the dripping sandwiches and I use olive oil whenever I can.

But, I am not giving up those foods whose taste I like - salami, black pudding, pork pies, rare steak, pork crackling, butter, cumberland sausage, lamb, chicken wings, mussels, oysters, fried fish. I could go on, but I have to nip out and grab a bag of salt and vinegar crisps.

My wife is a veggie, but I like and eat more vegetables and fruit than she does and I am fitter by a long way than she is too.

I like my pulses too, I love beans and lentils and this is a trick missed by most veggies, they seem squeemish about many foods, especially pulses for some reason. I'd love to do a survey and find out if vegetarians have a generally smaller range of foods they eat (excluding the obvious meats and meat by products).

    A vegetarian question?

    Your question doesn't eat meat?

This post is vegan by the way.

RE: The way I see it.

I may not get an extra ten years of youth but what about the decades of moral indignation, self righteousness and sanctimony we get to inflict on the rest of you?

You're murderers, nothing more - a cow has just has much right to live than you or me, y'know?

    :D

    chicken wings?

    chickens can't even fly. lol

fair play to ya tho, It doesn't bother me that people eat meat, although its called all types of fancy things at the end of the day its cow, pig and sheep with some birds, fish and molluscs thrown in for good measures. I'm not a stirct veggie, I eat by products although I try to avoid it when possible.

I don'tmiss it at all though, its not food to me any more.

btw, other than meat I will eat anything. (Y)

    I think you'll find...

That most of the prey animals have more right to live than you do.

If it were left to the veggies then the cow, the sheep, the chicken and the pig would die out. You would be responsible for the extinction of many different kinds of animals. Have that on your morally indignant conscience!

Anyway, as my wifey is one of your lot do you not think that your arguments roll of my back like rain of a ducks back coated with plum sauce, slow roasted and served with pak-choi and steamed fragrant rice?

    RE: chicken wings?

Even buffalo have wings, but they are below the skin, so you don't see them until you gut them.

I bet you wouldn't eat sweet potato noodles. I tried and failed.

    Why not - because

Because we have evolved as omnivores there are health implications of being veggie.

Well to be fair its not mush of an issue in adults, but the WHO have warned about the serious health implications of forcing children into having a completely veggie diet.
