I started queuing at 7.15 and missed the first 5 minutes. Hundreds were still queuing when I got in. I think there were 2 pay on the day turnstiles for the upper tier and 2 for the lower. Not only was that inadequate but it makes no sense to have the same number for each as the upper tier has far more seats.

Plus there were turnstiles for those with tickets that were hardly being used because so few had tickets. I tried to buy one today but there was a sign in the office window saying advance sales finished on Monday.

By contrast I and over 33,000 others paid on the gate in 1981 for a League Cup match and no way did I queue as long then as I did today. Nor did I miss the kick off back then either. We won too.

It doesn'the matter if anyone turned up hoping for the game to kick off as soon as they sat down, enough turnstiles should have been open so supporters got to see the full game they were paying for.

I agree on it being unacceptable tonight, but I'm pretty sure the Man City game was all ticket. I remember having to sweet talk Spinksy to get tickets after they all sold out.

I may be wrong then. I remember the Liverpool game being all ticket but not City. Good job we weren't all in the Brewery though.

After 130 or so years you'd think the club would learn its lesson!

I can understand the club thinking this wouldn't have been a big attendance, but at the same time not many would have seen an advantage to paying in advance either so a bit daft only having two cash turnstiles - it's them scanners that slow it down a lot though.

The bar in the East Stand nearest the Pony had no draft alcohol on either.

I bought in advance but when I got there (half an hour before kick off ish) the queue for the two ticket turnstiles was around 20 deep each one. Took me ages to get in

My only other thought on the number of turnstiles perhaps that should have been opened for the East Stand on Tuesday is that the home attendance, call it 4000, was all in the same area, and arguably not too different to a standard league game where you could say a similar number (probably more to be fair) would use the East Stand anyway. So arguably some logic to have a similar number of turnstiles open as for a league game?
