Well yes more empty seats in the short term of course unless we had any success then its more full seats. but facilities wise which is what you were suggesting wasmkey yoymcan obviously fit far more into a bigger stand than you can a small one

Agree. I'd only replace it now for one of two reasons. Either the west stand was deemed unsafe or a new stand was designed with money making facilities incorporated that makes it financially viable

    Exactly!
The current ground capacity has been filled maybe twice in the last ten or so years and not very often before that .that's why I said most games.
A stand the equivalent to the east stand is not economically viable IMO. A smaller stand with better facilities would be a much better option.
Its half empty the vast majority of games because of safety and segregation issues as well as under capacity. The only stand that's been full over the last few years has been the away end.

On that I agree, but you don't need a stand as large or costly to facilitate those ambitions.there's ample room in a low well planned stand.
Which as a matter of fact could increase capacity if it were designed to be able fill all seats regardless of away fans numbers.

PS it wouldnt hinder the grass growing when we decide to get some;)

Why the chuff would we want another stand as big as the East? We don't even fill half the stadium as it is. We'd have to be in the Prem to regularly sell out, and if we were to stay there a few years, our gates would fall eventually. We're not that well supported that we need to add another 4,000 to the capacity. In my opinion, the West should remain as is, forever. But if it does get redeveloped, it needs to be of a similar capacity, but all one tier. If we're wanting to increase capacity, then we make the Ponty double tiered. It was built with that plan in mind, wasn't it?

Can't actually believe we're even discussing stadium alterations on the back of a decade struggling to fill half of it.

Current thinking seems to be 4 smallers stands rather than individual big ones.

Lack of affordable housing is also criminal
