RE: "Let's face it you two are nothing to the club. People like me are the lifeblood. " - priceless! So you've basically admitted you put absolutely nothing in over the course of a season ergo you are nothing to the club. They wouldn't miss you one iota. 1979-83 - brilliant it was about five bob to get in then wasn't it? Why don't you write to PC and tell him that - might be able to buy some players with it January. You haven't pissed on my chips at all. It's irrelevant if you are at work, at home or watching the results in currys' window. The point is you are not putting the money in. So tell me, if the season ticket holders are not the lifeblood of the club - who is?
Sorry James, you're in too deep. No one fan or set of fans is the lifeblood of the club, That's just how it is, I'm afraid. Some folk go every week, season-ticket, programme, pie, replica shirt, the works. Others pick their games, maybe an odd away game thrown in. Some would like to go more but can't due to distance, work, other commitments - perhaps they get to an occasional midweek game. Is the commitment to the club any less than someone in that first group?? Of course not. I doubt the club would miss you either. Much like this board.
RE: Oulton Hall Depends who is paying........but golf wise,Lofthouse is a pretty poor course,Oulton doesn't impose winter tee's or greens. A fairly near alternative would be Normanton Golf Club (Hatfield hall Stanley). Also at Oulton you can always get a quick 9 holes in as its basically a 3 nine hole layout. They spent alot of money on drainage to the course when De Vere took over from Leeds Council a few years back. They've shelved other improvement due to the recession. Good driving range facilities as well.
RE: Sorry James, you're in too deep. You side stepped the question admirably there. Nevermind. You can't really disprove what I am saying - all you're doing is offering reasons why people do or don't go. Just try and answer a couple of questions for me though - if it wasn't for the season ticket holders where do you think the club would be and how would it finance itself - particularly over the summer? If you answer try and do it without using words like "the '70s", "Jim Iley" or "Bradford Park Avenue". In addition to that you can't use (babyhaha) or (lol) as arguments.
RE: Sorry James, you're in too deep. Really? The first thing I did was answer your question. You need to learn to read. The emoticons were the voice of the masses, expressing amusement at yet another James 'Lifeblood' G cack-handed attempt to make a valid point.</p> You seem to want to dismiss those that can't get to Oakwell every week, whatever the circumstances. Nothing like winning friends and influencing people, eh Lifeblood? Your no-doubt gregarious lifestyle allows you the luxury of being the club's prized asset. That's 'asset', before site admin step in. Although..... </p>
RE: Sorry James, you're in too deep. Well I don't think you have answered the question - in fact you are still side stepping it now. This is because you know I am correct. As for the reading comment - that's just really poor. I don't have a problem with people who don't go to games. I just don't think people should be commenting on games that they haven't been to - which begs the question what is the point of you two even coming on here? Seriously. There is nothing you can add to any debate about the current perfomances of the team. As for the last comment - weren't people taking you and Addio to task for your comments in this thread rather than me? How gregarious of you both. Any comments on season tickets and the finances of the club?
laughing at you now James shame you can't see how stupid you're coming across with this argument - time to let it go
Got to agree James, you're looking very stupid. I can say this as I too am a lifeblooder, maybe even more so than you as I don't live locally so there are no home games for me, I travel miles just to get to Oakwell. I also go to away games and subscribe to Barnsley Player, helped out during the period of Administration, buy a pie every home game and a programme and have been doing so for many years. I think that makes me a 'True Lifeblooder' rank which trumps you, so there. And my dad was bigger than your dad.
No he's not And he didn't say he was the life blood of the club. What he said was "People like me are the lifeblood". They are. If no one bought a season ticket next year the club would be in a right mess. I doubt if it could make it to the first game and would have to be wound up. That seems like the life blood to me. On the other hand, people who rarely go make little difference to the club.
RE: Sorry James, you're in too deep. No, I did answer the question with my very first line. The reading comment wasn't poor, just accurate, as you had clearly been unable to read these fairly straightforward words; "No one fan or set of fans is the lifeblood of the club" I now have to admit I was wrong, though. Clearly, you are the lifeblood of Barnsley Football Club. Praise Jesus an' that.
We need some 'Barnsley Lifeblood' top trumps cards making up. They'd sell well in the club shop. Everyone would be after that ultra-rare James G card. Or the 'I went to Luton. Did you?' one.
RE: No he's not That pretty much sums it up. It's a straightforward argument so I can't understand why people are having difficulty grasping it. God knows where this idea of ranking fans has come from but I'm sure Mickey will reply shortly and put his spin on it.
Bingo! "God knows where this idea of ranking fans has come from"</p> Er...... (chinny) </p>
Hmmm He's saying that people who don't have season tickets or attend games regularly can't come on here giving their opinions (even though he also says those same people aren't even making posts concerning BFC). He's hounding E.I. as far as I can see it for a) not being a proper fan and b) for talking about off topic subjects on this board. That seems a bit unfair really.
RE: No he's not For some reason, people who don't go to games like to think they're as important to the club as season ticket holders and go in to all sorts of weird and wonderful arguments as to why they are. Clearly they're not. Going to all the games doesn't make you a better person and no one is claiming it does, so I don't know why it causes so much fuss, but it does make you very important to the club. You could even say the life blood.
RE: Bingo! It was rosco who started going on about that and you made feeble attempts to be witty by bringing top trumps into it. I'd say there are 10,200 people as important to the club as me (if the figures are correct) so I'm not really sure how that's ranking people. You keep side stepping the issues though.
I think there's more than one point here Anyone is allowed to post on here and on whatever subject they like, so in that respect he is wrong. I think E'I.Addio gives as good as he gets. But as far as season ticket holders (or people like him as he put it) being the lifeblood of the club I think he is bang on the money and it seems a bit daft to me that he is being vilified for saying so.
No I don't. Where? Talk's cheap, Lifeblood. By suggesting that you and your Lifeblood kin are more important to the club and have a more valid opinion about games/players etc (as you've repeatedly done in the past) than those who can only make the occasional game, you are ranking supporters. Simple as that. Duh.
Of course season ticket holders are the life blood of any club. But if the club were in a serious sound financial position and had people queuing for season tickets every year and a waiting list. I'll put money on the fact that they'd happily want to see the back of fans that regularly boo and spit venom throughout games as it's of no value to anyone. Which I think was the original point of conflict between James and EI. I've been to one game this season and it's unlikely I'll go to another one, but I don't need to be a genius to understand that argument. The argument should have fizzled out months ago, but it won't rest. The holding a season ticket versus not argument isn't really the point that was originally made, but it's a lot easier then trying to justify booing your team.
