Re: My absolutely favourite bit of this classic bit of agent-scripted BS is He'll start games regularly at Norwich IMO. He's also got a 4 year deal on very good money I would imagine. He's going to be playing at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield etc, in front of huge crowds, with all the world watching the league he'll be playing in. Testing himself against the likes of Gerrard, Scholes and Essien. His chances - should he perform well - of making the national squad are increased massively due to this move, and considering the dearth of midfielders of his kind who are eligible for England. The manager who has recruited him plays football that should suit him, and speaks very highly of the lad. I would have loved him to stick around - I enjoyed watching him immensely. But I'm used to us losing our more talented youngsters, or any player showing prolonged form tbh. I felt absolutely devastated when Neil Redfearn departed, but along came Craig Hignett. And then Brian Howard, Adam Hammill, and of course Jacob. You just have to hope that we don't have to wait too long this time, for another midfield magician to turn up. Perhaps we have just recruited one, or maybe we have one already in the squad, the academy even? It's pre-season, a time for optimism. We have plenty of time to bitch and moan in the next 9 months, and going on the last few years I'm sure we will this time. But for now, I'm a positive tarn fan who can't wait for Rochdale on the 14th of next month. The only negative issue re Jacob is the lack of proper recompense we are bound to recieve via tribunal. And goodnight people, have a good Saturday
Re: So He fookin does, I am reading it now "He also claimed that he had a long list of offers from Championship clubs and that two of the three teams promoted from League One-Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton- said they would give him more money than Barnsley could provide" There you go directly from the Chron!!! So he does say it.
Re: My absolutely favourite bit of this classic bit of agent-scripted BS is 'The only negative issue re Jacob is the lack of proper recompense we are bound to recieve via tribunal.' That was something else that was entirely within his control. He could have signed a new contract with say a 2.5 million release clause etc, which would then have forced those who really wanted him to show us (and him) just how much they valued him and wanted him at their clubs. Of course his new manager was speaking highly of him prior to the move, he's hardly likely to woo him calling him a talentless c*cksucker is he? Instead Jacob's been more than happy to run down his contract while we've no doubt been working our ballacks off to get him rehabilitated, knowing that he'd then be more attractive (in terms of risk) to the premier league minnows, and we'd more than likely receive a fraction of his real value in today's market, a screwing that a good honest but small club like ours can ill afford. And yet he professes to hold us in high regard. He's a lying turd, and I look forward to seeing him back at Oakwell sooner rather than later. Yet another shining example of a game that sold it's soul a long time ago.
Re: My absolutely favourite bit of this classic bit of agent-scripted BS is Our club refused to enter contract negotiations with Jacob this time last year - the lad wanted an extension. Just out of curiosity Red West, how did you feel about Ricardo Vaz Te when he left?
Re: My absolutely favourite bit of this classic bit of agent-scripted BS is My guess is that we can't enter into longer term contracts as we cannot really speculate, until Xmas at least, as to what division we're likely to be in come August, and it's obvious that if we were to go down we'd struggle to honour our good contracts (with no guarantee of being able to move players on - just look at Portsmouth), which is why I suspect we have no option but to gamble and leave it late to start talks on renewing/extending etc. You'd think a young professional who has been with us since he was a kid might understand and massively empathise with his parent club's situation in this regard.........I guess not. JB's a selfish egotistical turd, mind you in the Prem he's in good company. Vaz Te was also an ungrateful/disloyal sh*t, who knew we'd be due a pittance in exchange for him leaving, despite what we'd done for him and his reputation in such a short period of time, yet still quite obviously forced through his 'big' move the minute it was on. Basically we gave him the first serious success he's ever experienced in Britain, and he couldn't capitalise on it fast enough. He couldn't even bring himself (aside from his agent-scripted placatory words immediately following the move to West Ham) to thank us for rebuilding him and his game, and in so doing bringing out his very best form. lovely person.
Re: My absolutely favourite bit of this classic bit of agent-scripted BS is Good riddance to Jacob and his ego. I believe in Karma so a bad injury will become him!!!!
