Daily Star say 750k too. If it's 300k like the local Bolton press say it's another Rowing **** up. That fee won't even cover the wages we have paid him the past two seasons.

Further proof, as if it were needed, that while we can keep ditching managers until the cows come home, if we don't clear out the amateurs that run the club, we're doomed.

FFS, he was (already) something of a journeyman, he'd had one good season with a league 2 club, and supposedly we were the only Championship club to offer him a proper deal, and yet we still agreed to a release clause of just £300k. 300k! 300 fecking k!! A sum which, if he proved successful at our level, would clearly amount to peanuts in today's market for a decent young striker. That's before you think about the further value that should be achieved by securing full international caps.

I could honestly weep at the thought of us getting royally fecked over once again for one of our better players, and in such a key position too. What a joke we are.

How do we know the details of the release clause, i.e. maybe it only applicable for this transfer window? Furthermore, does anyone really think we'd have got much more for him at this stage?

Unfortunately, if there is a release clause we wouldn't receive any more than whatever amount it is set at. The only bidding war would be done directly between the clubs and the player, i.e. it would be his wages that would be going up, not the transfer fee.

    I bet it's not far off - 18 months wages, 4k a week = £288k. Don't forget his 20 goals either.

Look at it from Davies point of view. You jumped two leagues to sign for Barnsley and likely double your salary, are you going to be that bothered about a low escape figure? Why? Possibly, if you think you might end up not settling or dropped, but I think even his agent wouldn't see any gain, particularly if that is being levied against other contractual elements.

I tend to think the 750k figure would be realistic for player who'd got 25 goals in league 2. If he could bag as many for us we might feel a bit sore at that, but under the circumstances it looks about right and we should grab it.

    This is an "OK" price.

With limited time left on his contract and his recent lethargic/useless displays.......£300K is acceptable, in my opinion.

If Bolton have watched him last few games then they may feel they have paid over-the-odds.

BFC are better off without Craig Davies and the £300K to invest.

If they watched him up until the end of October when he got injured they've robbed us of £2 million.

Typical newspapers guessing. Could be anything from £300,000 to £1 million. Let's wait and see what we get but will probably be undisclosed as usual with barnsley
