    RE: Swansea was dire

What have you honestly seen over the last three years to make you think next season will be any different?

I truly believe we are as bad now as we were when Davey was bringing tripe like Mattis, Eckersley, Knight and the rest in. As the league table shows us.

    RE: Swansea was dire

I'm not sure how old you are, but probably a lot younger than me. I've seen some dire players in my time, at the bottom of the old 4th division having to go cap in hand to the other clubs to apply for re-election to the league (no conference in those days). None of our current crop of players come anywhere close to being as bad as some I have seen in the past.

I don't know what is going to happen this coming season, because I don't know what the squad is going to be.

The league table doesn't lie, I know that, but I honestly believe we have better players now than we did 3 years ago. I think the reason we have done badly is due to 4 factors - strange tactics and selection, inability to score goals, conceding late goals, and also due to a general improvement in standard of the teams we are playing against.

I always think the new season is going to be different, and better. That's why I enjoy going so much.

    No we weren't

You can say what you want Mark, I just don't agree with you at all, even though you have every right to say it.

I am not saying, and have not said, that we were good or even adequate. I just don't agree with such language as "absolutely dire" and "mind-numbingly".

That said, I know I will not change your opinion, and you won't change mine. What ever happened though last season is in the past now and I am really looking forward to the new season.

    correct

In the past , but starting the new season with the same players as last season will only bring the same results.
Anyone can say what they want about football and be totally convinced they are right and the others are wrong, that is why its such an objective sport,it brings out the passion in people. I have got to admire your optimism mate. (but I still reckon you`re wrong :D )

    I'm neither optimistic nor pessimistic

I've no idea what we will do next season because I don't know what the squad is going to be yet.

I do agree though, that using the same players in the same way will probably give the same results.

RE: I'm neither optimistic nor pessimistic

The key is playing them in the right manner. We need to get attacking and trust our defence to do the defending. I looked around our team at times last season and wondered why we were struggling. Good players in a red shirt (Muller, Koz, Foster, Moore, Colace, Da Silva, Hammill, JCR). Starting the season with the same sqaud doesn't necessarily mean you will get the same results, if they are used differently.

RE: As was Charlton, Cardiff, Southampton

Blackpool (twice) Reading, Norwich, Forest (twice) Ipswich and Palace on the box.
And that's just from the games I saw and thanks to Davey's tactics I missed a fair few aways I'd normally have gone to.
