Ooops - I forgot about him maybe I should have written

Excluding Callum Elder, Of the players we had on loan last year he would be the last one I would want back :)

Haha would probably agree. At this stage I'd have him over Jones as well.

As someone just said, when you have a prem team backing you on huge wages what would be your mental attitude towards going to a team like Barnsley? So you play crap, or don't play at all, would you really worry? Just ask Winnall.

Armstrong's game is not based on work rate, it is based on pace. If you put Mo Farrah in a race against Usain Bolt, the winner would vary according to the distance run. Clearly, Armstrong cannot do the sort of distances a midfield player is expected to do, 10,000m to 12,000m, but his game is based on speed over 30m or 40 m and on that basis he would outpace any midfield player.

I think that he would be useful in away games, when the home team is more committed to attacking and there is space behind the last defender, but for home games we will need a different type of centre forward, a player who can hold the ball up and bring others into play. That is not Armstrong's game at all.

So do we bring him in just to play in away games? Probably not!

Didn't help that teams coming to Oakwell were all sat deep in their own halves. We missed a target man big time last year, Armstrong might have even done better with one.
He'll go on to be a decent player, but he didn't really fit into our team last year

These replies sum up the over-riding feeling towards Arma.

Lazy, doesn't fit our style, 'comfortable'.
BUT - bl00dy quick and I'd hate to see him thrive elsewhere.

Get him back, pay him based on goals.

Not for me. Obviously has pace and a good finish but games passed him by last season, admittedly in part due to the way we played at times. Don't think he worked hard enough to force himself into games despite that.

Yes, never stops running for the team, blistering pace, a bit of skill and a year's experience behind him. Better strikers around, certainly, but not in our wage bracket. Give him another season.

Never stops running for the team? In most of the matches I saw him he could barely be arsed to get back onside.

He's got pace and some quality but I probably wouldn't take him again.

I stand by it, I've never understood where this "bone idle" accusation came from, but I do realise we all see things differently.

We all certainly do see things differently! I wouldn't go as far as him being bone idle, but then I wouldn't say he never stops running either.

I think he could be a decent top end championship striker in his career but I don't think his future will involve playing for us.

    This.

I don't understand, at all, the comments saying that Armstrong had no work ethic and was a lazy player as that is just total ********. He always gave 100%, ran the channels well, harried the defence, and tried to get in behind with limited opportunities. He scored some good goals (albeit, not enough for a player with his undoubted talent) and he'll only develop further. Rather than running in behind, I think Adam should work on coming short for the ball, turning and looking to run at the defence more - he didn't do that enough. He has a good shot on him, and liked to have a pop from distance, so this would benefit his game. His defensive work also lacked at times, but at 20 years old, that will come with experience,.

At the minute, our striking options are looking bleak, so yes, Armstrong would be coming back in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself - he's already had a season here, knows the setup, knows the lads, so will hopefully progress. That being said, if we had a chance of say signing Ashley Fletcher, or Tammy Abraham on loan (or a player of that ilk - big strong, direct etc) then that is what I'd be looking for personally.

Always gave 1% would be a little more accurate though I am rounding up...

Obviously divided opinions on the lad. Absolutely "smashed it " in League One with Coventry City
he was given a chance at Barnsley but his form was "patchy" to say the least.

Probably a mirror image of Michael Chopra.? Finds it easy at one level but struggles when he steps
    up a League.?

To my mind at 20 years old if he was good enough he should be at least on the fringes
of the Newcastle side. Benitez must still have his doubts about the lad because it looks very much as though
he's heading out on another loan spell, this time with either Brentford or Bolton Wanderers.

If he does we might get the chance to judge him from a different perspective with a team who adopt a different style of play
to us if he plays at Oakwell that is.

I will always remember his goal that won the game for us at Preston last season.
So from me it's a thank you for what might have been but good luck for your future Arma anyway.
